With Jeffrey Epstein back in the news thanks to the release of many names surrounding his activities, with the files being part of a lawsuit involving Epstein accuser Virginia Guiffre, a clip from a Tucker Carlson appearance on the “Full Send” podcast has recaptured the public’s attention. In it, Tucker recounts the suspicious circumstances surrounding Jeffrey Epstein’s 2019 death in prison, which was ruled a suicide.
Particularly, Tucker claims that a friend of his spoke to Epstein shortly before his death and said that, because of developments in the case, Epstein was in relatively high spirits and did not seem suicidal. Further, he noted that there were changes made to Epstein’s in-prison situation before his death, and that the security cameras weren’t working.
Speaking about that, Tucker began with what he admitted was a “conspiracy theory” claim, which is that Epstein was “murdered” in prison. Making that claim, he said, “We know that he was murdered. He was murdered in the special housing unit of federal lockup in Manhattan… And I’m very skeptical of any kind of conspiracy theory or whatever.”
Continuing, Tucker got into the suspicious circumstances of Epstein’s last days in prison, saying, “A friend of mine is one of the people who last talked to him on the phone the day he was killed. And he had a expectation of a bail hearing in two days. He thought he was getting out. He was not despondent at all. I talked to his lawyer told me the same thing. They moved someone out of his cell. They put two people one of whom was not even a full-time prison guard on duty. None of the cameras trained on the cell work, they were all out of it that night. They locked the front of the special housing unit, they had eight cells in it. But then they opened all the cells inside.”
Tucker then claimed that Bill Barr suspected something happened to Epstein, saying, “There’s no question that Bill Barr clearly suspected Epstein was murdered but stopped the investigation into it. I went and read Bill Barr’s book in which he explains all this and it’s like complete bullshit and transparent bullshit. So I have no idea why the Attorney General United States would be lying about this but there’s literally no question that he did. I know him so we bill bars. Super nice guy. We reached out to Bill Barr like ‘hey, why don’t you come on and explain why you lied about Jeffrey Epstein’s death?‘”
Bill Barr, in his statement as AG after Epstein was found dead, said, “I was appalled to learn that Jeffrey Epstein was found dead early this morning from an apparent suicide while in federal custody. Mr. Epstein’s death raises serious questions that must be answered. In addition to the FBI’s investigation, I have consulted with the Inspector General who is opening an investigation into the circumstances of Mr. Epstein’s death.”
Later, Barr told the Associated Press, “I can understand people who immediately, whose minds went to sort of the worst-case scenario because it was a perfect storm of screw-ups.” The AP also reported that Bill Barr argued the evidence clearly shows Epstein killed himself and that he had reviewed security camera footage himself to confirm that no one entered the area where Epstein died.
In a later report, the AP reported that it had reviewed over 4,000 pages of documents surrounding Epstein’s death and found that there were huge, glaring issues at the Bureau of Prisons, most notably staffing shortages and employee corner-cutting, that caused Epstein death and that the documents had dispelled conspiracy theories about Epstein’s death.
