President Donald Trump once again demonstrated that he has zero tolerance for left-leaning reporters who step out of line and get aggressive during press events, completely unloading on CNN correspondent Kristen Holmes in the Oval Office, repeatedly telling her to “be quiet” after she interrupted him with questions concerning aide Natalie Harp.
Trump was trying to address criticism he received from Democratic Sen. Jon Ossoff, who mocked him and the relationship he has with Harp during a rally that took place in Georgia. Holmes asked Trump about Ossoff’s claim that the president would rather “build his ballroom and travel with Natalie” than do the job of the president.
True to character, the president unleashed on Ossoff by slamming him and then offering a defense of his renovations at the White House. Trump referred to the Georgia Democrat as a “Pee Wee Herman lookalike” and then said, “we’re fixing a White House that hasn’t been taken care of.” Holmes then tried to jump back in the mix again with another question concerning South Korea before Trump even finished speaking.
“Quiet. Quiet. Quiet!” Trump shouted at the CNN correspondent. He then accused the reporter of being disrespectful, pointing out 10-year-old Nathaniel Rai was standing nearby. Rai was at the White House to be recognized after he was rescued from dangerous surf in California in July 2026. “You’re very disrespectful in front of this young man,” the president told Holmes.
According to a report from Trending Politics News, Holmes pressed on anyway, trying to get her question in, which led to Trump going after her a second time. “You’re a loud, boisterous person. You’re fake news,” President Trump said, once again telling her over and over to “be quiet” while she fought to get her question across.
The interaction quickly gained steam online, with officials at the White House standing behind the president and putting Holmes on blast for her behavior during the event. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, who is soon leaving her position, was visibly irritated after the question and could be seen mouthing something to one of her colleagues.
The White House’s Rapid Response 47 account on social media also came after Holmes. “Someday, your children will come across your disgusting and inhumane question,” the post read. “They will be sickened and embarrassed to have a parent be so callous and vindictive. It’s quite troubling.” The White House also referred to Holmes as a “disgraceful, humiliating embarrassment to her alleged profession.”

Holmes is currently a senior White House correspondent for CNN and has worked at the network for over 14 years. Trump’s relationship with Harp has been making headlines after reports emerged concerning an assassination threat by Iran during the NATO summit last month. Harp was one of the individuals who switched planes with the president on the tarmac in Ankara after Israeli intelligence warned of a potential threat against Air Force One.
Harp has become one of the president’s most visible aides and is frequently spotted traveling with him. She’s been referred to as the president’s “human printer” due to her habit of giving him printed copies of news articles, posts on social media, and other materials. Some have referred to her as Trump’s “connective tissue” and says she has extraordinary access to him.
