A video clip featuring President Donald Trump with his granddaughter Kai on a golf outing where she asks him if he still has a dream he’s chasing has resurfaced and is making the rounds on social media, and for good reason. As conservative commentator Benny Johnson pointed out in a post sharing the video, Trump demonstrates that even with achieving one of the greatest honors of all time, he still has ambition.
Trump, who is well-known for his passion for the sport of golf, joined his granddaughter for a nine-hole game as part of a YouTube series called “1-on-1 with Kai.” During their game, Kai asked her grandfather if he still had any dreams left to chase. “You’re asking questions like I’m on TV! You become president, that’s a dream. But now you want to be a great president,” Trump replied.
“You’re doing a pretty good job,” Kai said. Kai is the president’s oldest granddaughter and is the daughter of Donald Trump Jr. and his ex-wife Vanessa Trump. The patriotic young lady shared some photographs of the golf game on her X account, writing, “I had an amazing time filming with my Grandpa to kick off my new series called 1 on 1 with Kai. In the video, everyone gets to see the bond we have, especially on the golf course.”
“This is my favorite video I have filmed so far and holds a lot of meaning to me. I hope you enjoy this very special video,” Kai added. In the video, she introduced President Trump by discussing the time they’ve spent together over the years. “People know him as a businessman or politician. But to me, he’s just my grandpa. We’ve been playing golf together for years,” she told viewers, according to NDTV.
“It’s something he’s always loved, and it’s become a way for us to spend time together. Over the years, I’ve learned a lot from being on the course with him not just about golf, but about life,” Kai continued. On her social media accounts, Kai, an avid golfer and internet influencer, often shares snippets of her family life, especially golfing sessions with her grandfather.
Kai first started gaining traction online after she shared a number of family photos and videos, including one of her enjoying a round of golf with President Trump and her sister Chloe. She made her first foray into politics by delivering a speech at the Republican National Convention in 2024. During her address, she referred to her grandfather as her “inspiration,” giving Americans a glimpse at his personal side, going on to add, “To me, he’s just a normal grandpa…He gives us candy and soda when our parents aren’t looking.”
Conservative commentator John Hawkins replied to the video on X, saying, “Trump did the most unexpected thing a President could do at this point. He’s tackling a lot of the most difficult problems in our country instead of pretending they don’t exist. This country would be a paradise if every President did that.”
