In absolutely huge comments made when he spoke at the Detroit Economic Club on Tuesday, January 13, President Donald Trump vowed that his administration will cease making all federal aid payments to sanctuary cities because of their sanctuary policies on February 1 of this year, declaring that it is time to stop tolerating their lawbreaking.
During his speech on the matter, the president pointed to cities and states that are refusing to cooperate with federal immigration enforcement as it tries to come to grips with the illegal immigration issue and stamp out both it and the foreigner-committed fraud for which states like Minnesota have become known.
Commenting on those sanctuary jurisdictions that use sanctuary policies to block federal law enforcement form enforcing immigration law, or indeed most any law that illegal aliens are accused of violating, the president said that jurisdictions that protect such illegal alien criminals are fueling fraud and crime, and so won’t continue to receive federal funds.
Beginning the post, the president vowed that the sanctuary cities will be cut off from all federal funding, something on which many of them quite rely to not fall into financial catastrophe, in mere weeks, saying, “Starting Feb. 1, we’re not making any payments to sanctuary cities or states having sanctuary cities.”
Building on that, he said that they have to be cut off from federal funding because they are working tirelessly not to make America and Americans better off, but to protect criminals at our expense. He said that the funding cut is coming “because they do everything possible to protect criminals at the expense of American citizens.”
Yet further, he noted that, in standing by sanctuary policies even in the face of immense fraud and crime, the sanctuary jurisdictions have become breeding grounds for those immense issues, saying, “And it breeds fraud and crime and all the other problems that come. So we’re not making any payment to anybody that supports sanctuary.”
Turning from sanctuary jurisdictions generally to hammering Minnesota and Gov. Walz specifically for what they have let occur, the president then noted that his administration has started shutting off payments to Minnesota, saying, “We have also suspended payments tied to suspected scammers in Minnesota, of which there are many. It’s a great state. It was a great state. Now it’s getting destroyed by that stupid governor.”

The president also posted about the matter on Truth Social, making much the same point about how sanctuary jurisdictions are pushing immense criminality on America by being breeding grounds of “crime and violence” and so need to pay for their own disastrous mistakes rather than relying on taxpayer subsidies.
He wrote, “EFFECTIVE FEBRUARY FIRST, NO MORE PAYMENTS WILL BE MADE BY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO STATES FOR THEIR CORRUPT CRIMINAL PROTECTION CENTERS KNOWN AS SANCTUARY CITIES. ALL THEY DO IS BREED CRIME AND VIOLENCE! If States want them, they will have to pay for them! MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!”
