WATCH: Trump Reveals Senators Won’t Be Able to Go Home for Easter Unless They Pass SAVE America Act, DHS Funding

President Donald Trump is demanding that Republicans tie Department of Homeland Security funding to the SAVE America Act, a sweeping election integrity bill requiring photo voter ID, documentary proof of citizenship to register and vote, strict limits on mail-in voting, all paper ballots, and other measures.

In a Memphis roundtable and multiple Truth Social posts, Trump declared these reforms “the most important things having to do with Homeland Security” and warned that he would not support any shutdown-ending deal, including a proposed $5 billion cut in ICE funding, unless Democrats help pass the full package. He urged GOP senators to skip Easter recess if needed, saying, “Don’t worry about Easter…”

Starting off his comments, the President declared, “So I’m tying Homeland Security into voter identification with a picture and proof of citizenship in order to vote. And those two items are the most important things having to do with Homeland Security. So it’s part, it should be part of the homeland security bill, and I’m requesting that the Republican senators do that immediately.”

Concluding his remarks, Trump said, “You don’t have to take a fast vote. Don’t worry about Easter going home. In fact, make this one for Jesus. Okay, make this one for Jesus. That’s what I tell them. That would be a damn good thing.”

In another interaction, a journalist asked the president an incisive question. “Elon Musk has offered to pay TSA workers during this DHS shutdown. Is this something that you’ve been picking them about?” Responding, the president offered an insight into possible plans.

President Trump answered, “Yeah, I’d love it. I think it’s great. Let him do that. And I want to thank ice, because they set it so strongly. They’ll do great. And if that’s not enough, I’ll bring in the National Guard. We’re not going to have the Democrats destroy our country. These people are the most destructive, sick people.”

In an earlier post on the subject on Truth Social, the president declared, “I don’t think we should make any deal with the Crazy, Country Destroying, Radical Left Democrats unless, and until, they Vote with Republicans to pass ‘THE SAVE AMERICA ACT.'”

Additionally, he added, “It is far more important than anything else we are doing in the Senate, and that includes giving these same terrible people, the Dems (who are to blame for this mess!), a Five Billion Dollar cut in ICE funding, a deal which, even when disguised as something else, is unacceptable to me and the American people – UNLESS it includes their approval of Voter I.D., (with picture!), Citizenship to Vote, No Mail-In Voting (with exceptions), All Paper Ballots, No Men In Women’s Sports, and No Transgender MUTILIZATION of our precious children.”

“Put it all together, and also, let Leader Thune clearly identify those few ‘Republicans’ that are Voting against AMERICA. They will never be elected again! In other words, lump everything together as one, and VOTE!!! Kill the Filibuster, and stay in D.C. for Easter, if necessary. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! President DJT,” he said to wrap up his comments.
