Speaking in a press conference delivered from the White House, President Donald Trump again called on Republicans in the Senate to get their act together and end the filibuster so that they can end the shutdown and ram through most of his agenda, correctly pointing out that the Democrats will certainly do exactly that if they ever retake power.
For reference, the shutdown has now dragged on for well over a month, and President Trump has grown increasingly frustrated, as have many Americans, with the Democratic contingent’s continuing demands for utter lunacy of spending, including hundreds of billions of dollars for non-citizen healthcare.
So, with that remaining a problem and seemingly harming his popularity, the president has pressed the lawmakers to push through an end to the filibuster, meaning they would only need 51 votes to pass anything, rather than the 60 that is currently required for most legislation.
Speaking from the White House on his demand that they do so, one that he has already made time and time again on his Truth Social platform, the frustrated president rattled off the list of much-needed agenda items that the Republicans could finally achieve if they just ended the filibuster and rammed through much-needed legislation.
He said, waving around a sheet of paper that seemingly had the potential victory items on it, the president said, “Here’s some of the things we’d pass if we terminated the filibuster. Voter ID, no mail-in voting, no cash bail, no men in women’s sports, no welfare for illegals. You could go on and on.”

Posting on Truth Social about the filibuster on November 2, the president said, “TERMINATE THE FILIBUSTER, NOT JUST FOR THE SHUTDOWN, BUT FOR EVERYTHING ELSE. WE WILL GET ALL OF OUR COMMON SENSE POLICIES APPROVED (VOTER ID, ANYONE?) AND MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! REMEMBER, THE DEMOCRATS WILL DO IT IMMEDIATELY, AS SOON AS THEY GET THE CHANCE. OUR DOING IT WILL NOT GIVE THEM THE CHANCE. REPUBLICANS, BE TOUGH AND SMART! THE DEMS ARE CRAZED LUNATICS, THEY WILL NOT OPEN UP OUR COUNTRY NO MATTER HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE IRREPARABLY HARMED!”
Similarly, in a post on November 4, the president highlighted the achievements that the Republicans could make if they ended the filibuster, saying, “Pass Voter Reform, Voter ID, No Mail-In Ballots. Save our Supreme Court from ‘Packing,’ No Two State addition, etc. TERMINATE THE FILIBUSTER!!!”
In another post on November 4, he said, “The Democrats are far more likely to win the Midterms, and the next Presidential Election, if we don’t do the Termination of the Filibuster (The Nuclear Option!), because it will be impossible for Republicans to get Common Sense Policies done with these Crazed Democrat Lunatics being able to block everything by withholding their votes. FOR THREE YEARS, NOTHING WILL BE PASSED, AND REPUBLICANS WILL BE BLAMED. Elections, including the Midterms, will be rightfully brutal. If we do terminate the Filibuster, we will get EVERYTHING approved, like no Congress in History. We will have FAIR, FREE, and SAFE Elections, No Men in Women’s Sports or Transgender for Everybody, Strong Borders, Major Tax and Energy Cuts, and will secure our Second Amendment, which the Democrats will also terminate, IMMEDIATELY. If we don’t do it, they are far more likely to do well in the upcoming Elections, which would mean a PACKED Supreme Court, 2 more States and 4 more Democrat Senators (D.C. and Puerto Rico), and 8 more Electoral Votes.”
And, in a post on November 7, he skewered the feckless Republicans for not having the courage and spines of steel necessary to do what needs to be done, saying, “It’s time for Republican Senators to stop playing games with the Radical Left Democrats and TERMINATE THE FILIBUSTER, IMMEDIATELY OPEN OUR COUNTRY, AND PASS GREAT COMMON SENSE LEGISLATION!”
