Former President Donald Trump recently sat down for an interview with the famous comedian Theo Von in a recent episode of his podcast, “This Past Weekend.” Von and his podcast have exploded in the past few years, and he has increasingly interviewed big names, including Trump. Theo has run in the same circles as Trump for some time, where the two were connected through UFC boss Dana White.
During the podcast, the Republican presidential candidate noted that his son, Barron, had put him on to Theo. “He’s a fan of yours, Baron,” Trump said at the beginning of the interview. Theo responded, “Really, Baron is?” seemingly surprised that the former president’s son was a fan of his.
“He just graduated high school, right?” Theo asked. Trump replied, “That’s right he just said, he, he knows you very well. He said, ‘dad, he’s big, big one.'” Von responded, “Wow, that’s cool,” in seeming amazement. Trump asked, referring to the growing podcast platform, “That’s, where it is nowadays, right?” The comedian answered, “Yeah, well, it’s interesting, you know? Yeah, I can’t believe that. Um, we’re able to get platforms.”
Theo elaborated on the humble beginnings of his podcast, which has experienced a meteoric rise and now interviews presidents. “And we, I started in my kitchen, and then, yeah, this evolved out of there,” he said, to which Trump replied, “That’s fantastic.” Theo continued, “I mean, it’s pretty unbelievable … does Baron play sports or anything?”
Trump then offered some insight into his son, stating, “He does. He plays golf and different sports, soccer. Loves soccer. Very good at soccer. He’s a good athlete, Baron.” Von inquired about the former first son’s college plans, asking, “Is he going to go to has he already picked a college or no?” Trump confirmed that Barron will be attending college this year and was admitted into an excellent university. “He has, and he’s getting set to go in the fall. Good college. Very good one. And he was always a very good student. He’s smart, smart guy,” the former president said, complimenting his son’s intelligence.
Users on social media reacted to the interview pointing out that the former president’s son is adding substantial value to the Trump campaign with his knowledge of popular culture and how to reach new audiences. “Barron Trump is unironically adding value to his father’s campaign by endorsing the idea of his dad going on podcasts/streams that reach young men,” one user on X said, sharing a clip of the interview.
The American Tribune reported on other comments from Trump praising his son. “He’s amazing, actually, in a circle here, he’s tall, good looking guys, a very good student, and he’s, he’s applied to colleges and gets into everywhere he goes. You know, he’s very sought after from the standpoint, he’s a very smart guy, he’s very tall guy, but he’s, and he’s, he’s a great kid. He’s, he’s cool, he’s pretty cool,” the GOP presidential candidate said. “He’s a smart one…he’s a great guy. He’s a little on the tall side. I will tell you, he’s a tall one, but he is a good-looking guy. And he’s really been a great student.”
