Following the controversial guilty verdict, Trump’s base appears to be emboldened in their support, as many believe the legal battles are a weaponization of the justice system against President Biden’s political opponent. According to recent reports, the Trump campaign has experienced a “record-shattering, small-dollar fundraising haul” of $52.8 million in 24 hours after the jury delivered the verdict. That figure set a new record for the campaign’s single-day U.S. campaign contribution of $50.5 million during the fundraising event hosted by hedge fund billionaire John Paulson in Palm Beach, Florida. Per Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Whatley, Trump had received roughly $34.8 million in donations from 485,000 people.
“The American people stand behind President Trump in the face of this unprecedented weaponization of the judicial system, and we are laser-focused on investing these resources to get out the vote, protect the ballot, and re-elect President Donald J. Trump,” Mr. Whatley said.
Trump addressed the verdict in comments outside the courthouse, maintaining that the trial was rigged and that the real verdict would come on November 5, when Americans can make their voices heard at the ballot box. He emphasized that he was fighting for the country and the Constitution.
