On March 19, 2025, President Donald Trump gave Fox News Anchor Laura Ingram a tour of the White House. While Whitehouse tours are normally routine business, a viral moment occurred when Trump drew a pair of curtains to the side to reveal the Declaration of Independence. After her spoke about the historical document, he humorously joked about his predecessor, Joe Biden, who he said couldn’t even name the Declaration.

On X, a video of the event went viral, and many users celebrated the move to display the document permanently. The commenters thanked Trump for his transparency. Others laughed at Joe Biden’s obvious incompetence when compared to Trump.

The President said, “So, this is the Declaration of Independence. And I asked that this be done. It’s never been up. It’s been in the vaults for many, many decades. ..We have to do something like drapes or something because the light eventually affects it. And it’s very cool. Do you think Joe Biden would do this? I don’t think so. Do you think he’d think of it? Do you think he knows what it is?”

Social media users clamored to congratulate the President. One said, “A powerful symbol of America’s founding values now back in the Oval Office!  The Declaration of Independence represents freedom, sovereignty, and the fight against tyranny. Displaying it proudly is a reminder of what this nation stands for. History matters, respect it, protect it, and uphold it!” One comment read, “This is awesome. Trump does everything the right way. Honors everything that deserves to be honored.”

Another reply read, “OMG! Is that the real Declaration of Independence? Wow, that’s amazing! I can’t believe they let you display it in the White House—that’s so cool! An incredible piece of history right there.” One user noted, “That’s how to honor America! Way cool spot to capture photos and video on the Declaration of Independence!!”One comment joked, “My dude is a stand up comedian doin prop comedy in this clip”

A commenter thanked Trump for “Sharing history with the nation. What an awesome document to have displayed in the office where it all happens. God Bless The USA.” One woman said, “I don’t know anyone that has actually seen the original Declaration of Independence, but President Trump decided it was important to reveal and show it. During an era when we’re determined to bring back constitutional law, America needs to read and support it. God bless our democratic Republic.”

Another publicly endorsed the move. The comment read, “Absolutely, Trump’s display of the Declaration of Independence in the Oval Office is a powerful reminder of our nation’s founding principles—something I can’t imagine happening under Biden’s watch.” A reply said, “The Declaration of Independence embodies care, patriotism, and the celebration of American values by asserting the people’s right to a government that protects life, liberty, and happiness, marking the birth of a unified, sovereign nation.”
