WATCH: Trump Exposes Federal Employees are Golfing, Working Secret Second Jobs on Taxpayer Time Rather than Doing Their Jobs, Says They’ll Be Fired

President Donald Trump recently exposed federal workers who are reportedly engaging in leisurely activities such as golfing, abusing their remote work status on the taxpayer’s dime.  Trump explained that these individuals will return to the office in accordance with his initiative to bring back in-person work or face termination.

The president delivered the remarks at CPAC, sending a firm message to federal employees pushing back on the return to office efforts, clinging to their remote or hybrid schedules.  “And you know, we’re doing another thing. If they don’t report for work, we’re firing them,” he told the crowd.

“In other words, you have to go to office, right,” Trump added.  “If you don’t report to work, you know, that’s another scam.” The president joked that his golf game would improve substantially if he was able to work from home. “You know… if I’m staying home, I’m gonna, let’s see, my golf handicap would get down to very low number,” he said.

Trump further quipped that he’d be good enough to go “on tour” if he didn’t have to come to the office. “You’d be shocked if I told you the real number, but I would be so good. But I try and get on tour, I would be so good. I’d call up. I’d say, Listen, I’m really working here. Where are my clubs? Where are my slips?”

He also claimed that some federal employees have taken on second jobs provided by their remote work privileges. “I either that or in many cases they have second jobs while they’re getting paid by us. So one of the reasons they’re leaving is because they don’t want to have to show that people,” Trump said.

In other recent remarks, Trump doubled down on his call for government workers to come back to the office and return to a work schedule not seen for half a decade. “All federal employees must once again show up to work. is a new phenomena. you know, since covid show up to work in person, like the rest of us, it doesn’t work when you don’t show up,” Trump said.

The president noted that the private sector has caught on to this, where industry leaders are forcing their employees back to in-person work as well.  “And I see companies now we’re all going back to it, they’re all going back. It’s great. I watch some of the big business leaders saying we absolutely go back, you can’t work at home, they’re not working.”

Calling out the remote federal employees, Trump said, “They’re playing Tennis they’re playing golf or they have other jobs, but they’re not working, or they’re certainly not working hard, you could never build a company or a country with that. So we have a very strong policy and if they don’t show up to work, they get fired.”

A statement from the White House on Trump’s return to office initiative read, “Heads of all departments and agencies in the executive branch of Government shall, as soon as practicable, take all necessary steps to terminate remote work arrangements and require employees to return to work in-person at their respective duty stations on a full-time basis, provided that the department and agency heads shall make exemptions they deem necessary.  This memorandum shall be implemented consistent with applicable law.”
