Arriving at the courtroom on Monday, April 15, for his criminal trial in Manhattan, former President Donald Trump gave a short message to the media in which he dropped six epic words about what he thinks the trial is as part of a larger statement on the charges he is facing and the general situation he is facing, with having to constantly fight legal battles while trying to campaign.
As background, this trial comes because of allegations that he falsified business records to cover up a “hush money” payment to porn actress Stormy Daniels. Trump, for his part, argues that the hush money allegations are being used as a political tool to keep him focused on and spending time and money on courtroom fights rather than on the campaign trail.
Speaking to the media before entering the Manhattan courtroom for the hush money trial, Trump argued that the case is “nonsense” and that it is unlike anything that has “happened before,” claiming, “Nothing like this has ever happened before. There’s never been anything like it. Every legal scholar says, this case is nonsense. It should never have been brought. [indecipherable] anything like this.”
Continuing, Trump went on to claim that the case is an “outrage” and case of “political persecution,” with the prosecution having “no case” against him. He said, “There is no case and they’ve said it. People that don’t necessarily follow or like Donald Trump said, this is an outrage that this case was brought. This is political persecution,” Trump said.
Emphasizing those points, Trump referred to the case as “persecution” and claimed again that it is unprecedented. He then argued that it never even should have been brought. He said, “This is a persecution like never before. Nobody’s ever seen anything like it. And again, it’s a case that should have never been brought.”
That’s when he got to the six knock-out words, claiming that the case is a direct assault on America. “It’s an assault on America,” former President Trump said. Then, building on that point, he said that he is “honored” and “proud” to be in a position to fight the case because he can stand up to that attack on America as America heads in the wrong direction.
Doing so, he said, “And that’s why I’m very proud to be here. This is an assault on our country. And it’s a country that’s failing. It’s a country that’s run by a competent man who is very much involved in this case. This is really an attack on a political opponent. That’s all it is. So I’m very honored to be here. Thank you very much.”

This is the same case in which Judge Merchan has potentially stopped Trump from attending his son Barron’s graduation. Speaking about that, Trump said, “Thank you very much. We had some amazing things happen today as you know my son is graduating from high school and it looks like the judge will not let me go to the graduation of my son who has worked very very hard.”
Continuing, Trump told the press that he had been looking forward to the graduation, saying, “I was looking forward for years to graduation with his mother and father there, and it looks like the judge isn’t going to allow me to escape the scam.”
