In recent post-court comments, former President Donald Trump criticized President Biden for the “rampant” inflation that has plagued the American economy over the past several years. Trump has consistently questioned the competence of the Biden administration on this issue.
Trump addressed the macroeconomic environment in his post-court comments on Tuesday. “Just to begin, news of inflation is rampant, it really is rampant. It’s moving at a level like people have not seen, they to be able to cut it down. Biden has no control over what’s happening. He started it with energy and now it’s taken on a life of its own and it’s very sad. We’ll get it fixed,” he said.
The former president then pivoted to the hush money trial that has been ongoing for weeks. Trump has continually maintained that he is innocent, claiming the entire case is designed to obstruct his campaign efforts. He has often labeled the trial a politically motivated witch hunt.
He continued, “I’d like to be out campaigning right now but again, I’ve been almost five weeks in court, and they have no case. There’s no crime. Every single legal expert, and I could say this again and again, every time they come out, maybe at some point they’ll come out and say, “Oh, we found something….Every single legal expert … every single person is saying there’s no crime. It’s a kangaroo court.”
According to Trump, the prosecution has yet to provide evidence of a crime in the hush money case brought against him by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. The GOP frontrunner is accused of falsifying business records relating to the $130,000 payment made to Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 election.
“There’s no crime. It’s it’s never been anything like this that I’ve ever seen…. And hopefully an appellate division will take care of those things, they’re egregious. And the problem is that New York is going on trial itself. The whole world is watching to see what’s happening,” Trump said.
Moreover, Trump has frequently claimed that Judge Juan Merchan, who is presiding over the trial, is highly conflicted and corrupt. The former president has suggested that these allegations hinder the legitimacy of “the whole system.” He further lamented how New York, his home, has devolved into such judicial corruption. Watch his comments below:
Trump added, “And you can’t use conflicted judges, the judge is conflicted, highly conflicted judge and you just can’t do that. You just cannot allow that to happen because you ruin the whole system. The whole system comes tumbling down. And New York, this is where I grew up. I was born here. I grew up here. And I see what’s happening with this judicial system. And it’s just, they call it all kangaroos. And we just can’t have it. And I think the appellate courts can take care of a lot of things.”
Trump illustrated that the legal battle is a tiring, arduous process where he is spending up to nine hours on a daily basis in the court proceedings. However, he claimed that he is fighting for every U.S. citizen because “the country needs it,” and the Constitution is “under threat.”
