A recent leaked recording of former President Donald Trump on the golf course showed the presumptive Republican presidential nominee commenting on the tumultuous state of the Biden administration following the debacle that unfolded on the debate stage last week. Biden’s poor debate performance against Trump highlighted prevalent concerns about the state of the president’s cognitive health.
The footage shows Trump sitting in a golf car with his 18-year-old son Barron, where he criticized his opponent. “We kicked that old, broken down pile of crap,” Trump said to a group around his cart before passing out bills. “He’s a bad guy,” he added. Trump also appeared to address speculation that President Biden would not remain in the race.
“He just quit, you know — he’s quitting the race,” Trump claimed before explaining that it would entail Kamala Harris stepping into Biden’s role. “I got him out — and that means we have Kamala.” Trump quipped that she would arguably be better than Biden despite her being “so bad.” He continued, “I think she’s going to be better. She’s so bad. She’s so pathetic. She’s so f–king bad.”
Some have suggested that President Biden’s worrisome cognitive state could pose a national security threat under the scenario where Biden would have to sit down with the leaders of adversarial nations. “Can you imagine that guy dealing with [Russian President Vladimir] Putin? And the president of China — who’s a fierce person. He’s a fierce man, very tough guy,” Trump said, speaking about Russia and China as geopolitical tensions flare with these nations. “They just announced he’s probably quitting. Just keep knocking him out, huh?”
As a result of last week’s debate, many Democrats across the media have abandoned their long-standing efforts to defend President Biden from criticism of his apparent deterioration in mental and physical health. In the wake of the poor showing, commentary across mainstream media outlets highlighted the ramifications of the debate debacle.
The American Tribune reported on remarks from a post-debate CNN panel that unanimously agreed that the Democratic Party would need to seriously reevaluate its path toward the election. CNN host John King explained that high-ranking members of the party were in an “aggressive panic” after the debate. Furthermore, he suggested that some were seriously considering trying to replace Biden.
“Anderson, this was a game-changing debate in the sense that right now as we speak, there is a deep, a wide, and a very aggressive panic in the Democratic Party. It started minutes into the debate and it continues right now. It involves party strategists; it involves elected officials; it involves fundraisers. And they’re having conversations about the president’s performance, which they think was dismal, which they think will hurt other people down the party in the ticket and they’re having conversations about what they should do about it,” he said.
King continued, “Some of those conversations include should we go to the White House and asked the president step aside? Others are, other the conversations are about should prominent Democrats go public with that call. But because they feel this debate was so terrible, they do say in moments in a debate later, the president got better and got his footing. But then at the end, even his closing statement was a little halting.”
