Speaking during a roundtable discussion led and hosted by President Donald Trump about the manner in which the administration is taking on the funders of far-left extremist organizations of the sort that have wreaked so much havoc as of late, Seamus Bruner, research director at the Government Accountability Institute (GAI), commented on how the Administration is taking a “whole of government” approach to destroy the organizations and their backers.
As background, the Trump Administration has been pressed on the state of things in the country and how it is working to avenge Charlie Kirk, assassinated by a radical leftist on September 10, by rolling up and crushing networks of the sort suspected of being involved in Kirk’s cold-blooded assassination at Utah Valley University.
Bruner, for his part, explained that the administration is particularly focusing on “unmasking” Antifa by revealing who is financing it. “President Trump is taking it very seriously,” Bruner said. Continuing, he noted that while Antifa is the most infamous of those involved, there is a massive “ecosystem” that needs to be destroyed, saying, “It’s not just Antifa, but there is a whole ecosystem of radical, professional protesting organizations.”

Commenting on those currently suspected of being involved, Bruner pointed to billionaire George Soros’ Open Society Foundation, the Tides Foundation, and foreign donors such as Swiss billionaire Hansjörg Wyss as being involved in what he called “Riot Inc.”, adding as he did so that RICO could and would be used to hold them accountable.

Also speaking on the matter was Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, who did so when speaking in an appearance on the “Charlie Kirk Show,” which is currently being hosted by Turning Point USA’s Andrew Kolvet, along with additional TPUSA staffers. Doing so, Secretary Bessent explained that the Treasury Department can and will destroy these networks.
Comparing the present situation to 9/11, he said, “I will tell you that after 9/11, Treasury became the driving force behind tracking down the networks of terrorist organizations, how they were financed, how could this have happened on U.S. soil with these international terrorist organizations. Where did the money come from? Who are the ultimate funders?”
Adding to that, Secretary Bessent explained that foreign terror groups are working within our borders to attack America, saying, “And that was on the international side. Andrew, I will tell you that Charlie’s death is like a domestic 9/11. That we are going to find, it has alerted us to what Charlie knew, that these organizations are working within our borders.”
The Treasury Secretary further added that while people have a right to free speech, they do not have a right to be violent terrorists, saying, “And we believe people have a right to free speech, they have a right to organize, they have a right to protest, but they have to do it peacefully. They cannot be violent.”
Then, noting that the Treasury Department is putting together data on what networks are involved, Secretary Bessent explained, “We have started to compile lists, put together networks, and there’s a long record here. And we don’t know how much of the support is coming in from overseas. We don’t know how much is being supported by U.S. nonprofits. C3s that give money to C4s, but this is mission critical for us now.”
Once again comparing the present situation to the aftermath of 9/11, the Treasury Secretary said, “Just as after 9 /11 and Osama bin Laden, the ultimate culprit, was captured, we are operationalizing this here at Treasury and we are going to track down who is responsible for this.”
