WATCH: Trump Admin Announces Dramatic New Plan to Turn Up the Heat on Sanctuary Cities

The Trump Administration is making moves toward cutting off sanctuary city airports from international travel, which would be a titanic blow to them! Such is what Secretary Markwayne Mullin declared an absolutely epic announcement that he made on Tuesday, May 26, during an interview appearance on Fox News Channel’s “Hannity” program with host Sean Hannity.

During the show, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Mullin explained that the DHS is drawing up plans to ensure that sanctuary cities that have chosen not to aid ICE will be cut off from international travel to and from their airports by pulling Customs and Border Patrol officials from those airports until they end their sanctuary policies.

This isn’t the first time that Mullin has spoken on the matter. Commenting on it a few months ago, he declared, “I believe sanctuary cities is not lawful. Some of these cities have international airports. If they are a sanctuary city, should they really be processing customs into their city? We need to have a really hard look at that.”

Now, however, it appears that he is getting more serious about it. Such was sparked by the recent chaos at an ICE facility in Newark, with Mullin explaining that ICE had requested aid but did not receive it from the city, with the police refusing to help deal with the rioters because of sanctuary policies.

Explaining as much to Sean Hannity, Secretary Mullin said, “[W]e called for assistance — for the police, because they were barricading the roads and they were trying to get through the gates. Not one time did the police respond, not a single time did the local P.D. or state police [respond] to our call for assistance.”

Continuing, the secretary explained that the administration is now looking into how to seriously crack down on this sort of behavior, as it is unacceptable. “[Y]ou just can’t make sense out of this, especially the fact that local law enforcement wouldn’t respond. And so, I visited with the White House today, Sean,” he began.

Adding to that, he returned to the idea of shutting off sanctuary cities from international air travel, saying, “And I said, if they’re going to not allow us to go out and arrest the worst of the worst and then when we call for assistance at the facilities that the street, it belonged to the city, if it belonged to us, we would take care of it, but it belongs to the city and they’re barricading our employees from coming in and out of the facility, then why are we processing international flights into the airport there?”

Continuing, he noted that the administration is drawing up plans for making that happen, saying, “And I — we are currently, which we’re not initiat[ing] yet, but we’re currently drawing up plans to say listen, in these sanctuary cities, where the local, radical left Democrats aren’t allowing us to do our job and enforce federal laws, then we shouldn’t be processing international flights into their cities either.”

Concluding, he vowed that he would take this seriously, and stop letting these sanctuary cities get away with benefiting from DHS while deriding and obstructing it. He said, “Because they don’t want us to enforce immigration, but they want us to process immigration at their facilities? Nothing about that makes sense to me.”
