Speaking in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Trump Administration Border Czar Tom Homan laid down the law and demanded the sanctuary city authorities start fully complying with the law and protecting immigration enforcement officers from the sort of antics being engaged in by leftist agitators, such as setting up checkpoints through the city.
As background, Border Czar Homan was sent to Minnesota to deal with the local officials who have caused so many problems for the federal government as it cracks down on crime in the state, namely illegal immigration and fraud committed by migrants. Particularly, Homan was sent in to ensure Minneapolis Mayor Frey and Minnesota Gov. Walz comply with the administration’s demands.
Indicating as much in a post on Truth Social, Trump said, “Governor Tim Walz called me with the request to work together with respect to Minnesota. It was a very good call, and we, actually, seemed to be on a similar wavelength. I told Governor Walz that I would have Tom Homan call him, and that what we are looking for are any and all Criminals that they have in their possession. The Governor, very respectfully, understood that, and I will be speaking to him in the near future. He was happy that Tom Homan was going to Minnesota, and so am I! We have had such tremendous SUCCESS in Washington, D.C., Memphis, Tennessee, and New Orleans, Louisiana, and virtually every other place that we have “touched” and, even in Minnesota, Crime is way down, but both Governor Walz and I want to make it better!”
The results have so far been something of a mixed bag. On one hand, the police have cracked down and dealt with the protesters in some cases, such as when the agitators outside a hotel in which ICE agents were staying were arrested as ICE agents watched on with glee, drinking beer and laughing.
However, the state has also allowed some things to slide, such as the barriers and checkpoints being set up by leftist agitators to try to stop and track federal agents. Homan sounded off on that during his speech, saying, “Ignoring duties to enforce immigration law that Congress passed is unacceptable, and it’s shameful and incomprehensible to me that . . . this unlawful and threatening behavior is being tolerated by anyone.”
Continuing, Mr. Homan vowed that the barriers would prove ineffective, saying, “As far as what I saw yesterday, the roadblocks being set up, you’re not going to stop ICE. You’re not going to stop Border Patrol. The only thing you’re doing is irritating your community and want to go get groceries or pick the children up or whatever.”
Adding to that, Homan indicated that the local police have been brought to heel and will be cracking down on the barriers as they ought, saying, “I talked to the chief of police, and he committed to taking swift action on those illegal roadblocks. They’re illegal. We shouldn’t tolerate them.”

He then noted that the federal agents would only be drawn down as the local authorities comply, saying, “Again, a complete drawdown is going to depend on cooperation, continued cooperation, of local and state law enforcement, and the decrease of the violence, the rhetoric and the attacks against ICE and Border Patrol.”
Concluding, Homan noted that those involved with the federal effort are patriots who have done their job well and patriotically, saying, “The federal law enforcement personnel, ICE, CBP, and other partner agencies are patriots, and they have carried out their duties patriotically.”
