NFL superstar Tom Brady recently spoke when inducted into the New England Patriots Hall of Fame. He gave a powerful and inspirational speech on toughness and overcoming adversity, speaking about how that mindset helped him succeed in football. Breitbart called the speech “anti-woke,” arguing that the topic of overcoming adversity through personal virtue rather than by complaining about it would “leave the woke mob fuming beneath their guardian caps.”

In any case, during the speech, Brady said he “would encourage everyone to play football.” Explaining why, the Hall of Famer argued that the rough and challenging game provides lessons that “teach us that success and achievement come from overcoming adversity, and that team accomplishment far exceeds anyone’s individual goals.”

Continuing, he went on to explain that what sets the truly successful apart isn’t innate talent but rather consistent hard work that involves showing up every time with full energy and a willingness to work hard. He said, “The truth is, you don’t have to be special. You just have to be what most people aren’t. Consistent, determined and willing to work for it. No shortcuts.”

He added that his fellow Patriots team members are examples of that dedication to the game that sets them apart. He said, “If you look at all my teammates here tonight, it would be impossible to find better examples of men who embody that work ethic, integrity, purpose, determination, and discipline that it takes to be a champion in life.”

Those former teammates who were in attendance for the Wednesday, June 12, Patriots Hall of Fame event and Brady speech and to whom he was referring when saying hard work is what makes the difference were, among others,Rob Gronkowski, Julian Edelman, Randy Moss, Willie McGinest, Devin McCourty, Vince Wilfork, Ty Law and Wes Welker.

Commenting on a clip of the speech that took off on X, garnering well over a million views, one commenter said that she made her grandchildren listen to the video and explain it back to her to help them understand and embody the values about which Brady was talking. She said, “My grandchildren are over here four boys one girl. I just made them listen to this and explain it back to me! Life is hard, but keep fighting! Thank you Tom Brady for being a role model to our children!”

Brady is a longtime friend of Trump’s. Speaking in December of 2015, he said, “Donald is a good friend of mine. I have known him for a long time. I support all my friends. That is what I have to say.” Brady also once had one of former President Donald Trump’s red “Make America Great Again” hats in his locker when he played for the New England Patriots.

However, Brady later said, speaking about his relationship with Donald Trump, “This was 17 or 18 years ago. I was so young. I got to go to a private golf course. I thought it was the coolest thing in the world.” He then added, “I think (the media) just mischaracterized a lot. There are things that I agree with. There are things that I don’t.”
