While many little kids around the country were most excited at Christmas time for presents, Santa, and family traditions like “Elf on a Shelf,” two-year-old Emilia Wadgymar of Woodlands, Texas, thought that the season’s real shining stars are the Virgin Mary and Baby Jesus.
Such could be seen in an awesome video his mother, Tamara Wadgymar, posted to Instagram. In it, little Emilia runs toward the Nativity scene and gets excited for the Virgin Mary and Baby Jesus figures in the scene, ignoring the nearby Santa Claus and focusing on the reason for the season instead.
In the video, little Emilia excitedly exclaims, “Mary! Mary! Hello Virgin Mary. Hello, baby. Hello, Virgin Mary.” Then, kissing the cardboard cutout of Baby Jesus in the Nativity display, she says, “I’m going to give her a hug,” referring to the Virgin Mary.
The heartwarming video, posted to Instagram on December 12, has gotten millions of views and hundreds of thousands of likes. It also drew numerous comments about how sweet and heartwarming it is, with people chiming in and saying things like “Heart melted into little bits my goodness!!!!” and “The pure heart of a child so lovely.”
Another commenter, speaking about the battle Emilia’s four-year-old big brother is waging with cell histiocytosis and the family’s perseverance throughout, said, “I see Emilia and understand that thanks to God are so, and that she in her smile, her happenings and the wonderful way to see life in her short years teaches us at the same time being daughter, sister and girl in this dynamic that sometimes is chaotic and painful, it can also take you to the highest peaks of joy, tenderness and show us life from its eyes full of innocence and illusion and at other times see it being mature and digest moments that many people can not imagine. I’ve been following you for a few months and every video, story, post and letter that plasmas directs me to a state of constant gratitude, you are a great mother Tamara, I thank you because from your experience you are giving testimony. May God keep his constant gaze upon you and the Virgin heavenly mother, comfort your heart in the darkest moments. And so by the hand of both of you, your husband, and your children are led by the Holy Spirit to live life for and for Jesus. You are still in my prayers and it fills me with peace to know that there are still so many good people that even without knowing each other, empathize, and join in prayer for something as beautiful as your child. Don’t stop praying until in heaven they say “come on then, there he is”. I embrace you with my soul.”
Tamara spoke to Fox News Digital about the display and what the family was up to that led to little Emilia’s enthused reaction when she saw Baby Jesus and the Virgin Mary at the Nativity display. Beginning, she described where they were, saying, “We went to a place [where] a Christmas village train was set up.”
Then, Tamara added that there were a number of displays at the event, including a Santa train and the Nativity, and that she whipped her phone out and started recording after Emilia, on her own initiative, ran toward Mary and Jesus instead of Santa. She said, “They changed the nativity this year to be really big. Emilia didn’t even notice the Santa train. She started yelling, ‘Mary! Mary!’ and I started recording.’”
