In a video clip that is going viral on social media, Fox News host Jesse Watters and journalist Kevin Corke grilled Minnesota Democratic Gov. Tim Walz for giving a Somali individual an award for supposedly being an outstanding refugee and being an entrepreneur, only for the man to be arrested later for engaging in fraud.
Corke started off by noting how ironic the whole situation is and pointing out how it sounds like the plot to a film straight out of Hollywood, full of absurdities that not even top screenwriters could cook up. “You know, Jesse. Sometimes the plot in a movie is so obvious that you could swear it couldn’t possibly be real. But you know, sometimes life imitates art, and not always in a good way,” he told Watters.
“I want you to meet somebody that you and I have had a chance to talk about. This is Salman Ahmed Elmi. He’s Minnesota’s 2021 Outstanding Refugee and Entrepreneurship Award winner. Smiling for the camera with his plaque, you can almost hear the movie trailer, can’t you?” Continuing with the movie analogy, Corke discusses that while it seems like the story of an immigrant doing right by his family, there’s a big plot twist.
“A model immigrant comes to America and makes good on his promise to do right by his family, but then in real life, it doesn’t always turn out that way. A bit of a plot twist I want to tell you about because on Monday the attorney general in the state of Minnesota, Keith Ellison, well he charged Elmi with not one, not two, not seven, but eight felonies,” Corke continued.
“His company Reba Health allegedly scammed Medicaid, billing U.S. taxpayers over a million dollars for services never provided. Have we heard this story before? Worse yet, turns out the very same agency that handed him that fancy award. Well, that agency also cuts the Medicaid checks. Now, when the story broke, DHS mysteriously scrubbed his profile from the website,” Corke said in his recounting of the facts.
The senior national correspondent then noted that the only place you can find Elmi’s profile is on the Internet Archive. “You can only find it on the Internet Archive now. Oh, but wait, there’s more. Two of Elmi’s co-defendants were charged last week in a Hennepin County sex trafficking bust, and would you believe it? A former Minnesota prosecutor was implicated as well,” he explained.
Corke then discussed how this isn’t the first time that Walz has had an “outstanding refugee” go rogue and start engaging in criminal behavior. “It’s all true. By the way, this is not the first time an outstanding refugee went all Walter White and broke bad. Governor Tim Walz actually personally handed the very same award to Ayan Abukar, who later pleaded guilty for her role in the $20, make that $250 million dollar Feeding Our Future scheme,” he told Watters.

“Now a judge has ordered Elmy to give up his passport and stay right in the land of 10,000 Lakes. He’s got a court date coming up on October the fourth. We’ll see if he makes it, Jesse,” Corke concluded his report. Watters then took a few seconds to slam “Tampon” Tim Walz, saying, “Yeah. So if Tampon gives anyone an award, just arrest them. Just get ahead of it. Just arrest them. They’re guilty of something.”
