Social media erupted after Former 2024 Democratic VP nominee Tim Walz gave a bizarre speech at a town hall in which he called for a “Shadow government” to resist President Donald Trump. Walz’s remarks come after months of TDS meltdowns, during which Democrats were reduced to hysterical theatrics by Trump’s decisive leadership and America First policies.
For context, Walz is on a “redemption tour” after his party’s devastating election loss, holding town halls to strategize against the Trump administration. However, these events have done little to erase Walz’s legacy of incompetence or ease the fears of Democrats worried about the next 4 years of Trump.
In his insane rant, which was captured on March 26, 2025, the failed candidate railed against Trump. He said, “We see one of the first things they do is try to restrict the vote. This is one of the things, though, that is going to take power to the streets. I don’t know what the answer is on this, but I’m kind of I’ve been saying this. I think we need a shadow government. So when all these things come up every single day, we’ve got an alternate press conference telling the truth about what things are happening.”
Reacting to his dangerous language, conservatives posted their thoughts in the comments section of this clip. One of the replies read, “We can’t forget or ignore the fact that this person spent many years worshiping the government in China and had numerous trips with students and his wife to visit. His loyalties need to be investigated. Here he is asking for a shadow government.”
Noting the double standards of Democrats, some comments noted the rebellious tone of the speech. One of the replies read, “Sounds kinda insurrectionist to me. But since it’s Team Blue doing it, the usual suspects will clap.” Another one of the comments joked, “This sounds “insurrection-y”; Walz wants unelected bureaucrats subverting our democratically elected officials?”
Confused by his point, several comments noted that the Democrats already have massive unaccountable power. One of the responses said, “We already have one… what do you call all the liberal judges that are overturning Trump’s executive orders? Isn’t the Supreme Court the only court that is supposed to be able to do that?”

Users also said that Tim Walz was parroting a baseless conspiracy theory. One of the comments joked, “Conservatives: ‘There’s a deep state acting as a shadow government to subvert the will of the voters.” Leftists: “Are you listening to too much Alex Jones, you and your crazy conspiracy theories!'”
Other users attacked Walz for his hypocrisy. One of many comments read, “I never listen to guys who have said they are “friends with school shooters” as Tim said in his debate with our VP last year.” Users chimed in to say, “Sooooo they’re doing that liberal thing? First, they deny, then change details, etc., leading up to full acceptance of what they first said was a conspiracy.”
