In an absolutely awesome moment on Sunday, December 22, Charlie Woods, the 15-year-old son of legendary professional golfer Tiger Woods, managed to score an iconic hole-in-one, his first ever, during the PNC Championship at the Ritz-Carlton Club Orlando. The moment came when Charlie was playing alongside his father in a tournament, so Tiger got to see it too.
The awesome moment came during the final round of the PNC Tournament, one that Charlie and Tiger entered in a leading position, on the Ritz-Carlton Club Orlando’s fourth hole, a par 3. At the moment at issue, Charlie hit what looked like a reasonably good shot toward the green and started to walk away from the tee box, looking satisfied with his performance.
Then, after he started walking away, the crowd started ecstatically cheering, signaling that he had managed a hole-in-one. Charlie, seemingly in disbelief that he could have managed an ace, as he hadn’t gotten one up till then, asked, “That went in?” Tiger, also in disbelief at first, then turned and embraced Charlie with a big hug and shouted, “Yeah!”
Though he and his father didn’t manage to win the tournament, Charlie said that the tournament was some of the most fun he has yet had in golf. Commenting on it, he said, “It’s not even close.” Continuing, he added that having his father there to play with him and watch the moment was quite cool. He said, “It was awesome having Dad there.”
Then, adding that it was a great deal of fun scoring the ace and hitting just the right shot with his seven iron, Charlie also said that he didn’t get to see it go in but the moment was cool regardless. He said, “That was so much fun. It was just a perfect 7-iron, little cut in there. Of course never got to see it go in. So that sucks. But that’s all right.”
Tiger said much the same thing, describing it as “the thrill of a lifetime” watching Charlie score his first ever hole-in-one while being around close friends and family. He said, “That was the thrill of a lifetime to be able to have that moment with Charlie, make his first hole-in-one, [daughter] Sam on the bag, just our family and friends.”
He added that those feelings and moments are what the PNC Tournament, with its father-son duos, is all about, saying, “That’s what this event is about. It’s about bonding and family.” Then, commenting on who won, he said, “I know we didn’t win, but it was the fact that we competed. No one really made a mistake out there. We had to earn it, and that’s what you want to have. Hats off to Langers. They played amazing.”

Commenting on the moment on X (formerly Twitter), one person said, “I know Tiger has been kicked around a lot. Some of his actions have rightfully made him a target and that’s on him. However as a Father I enjoyed seeing that proud look of joy on his face in this moment. Great Job Dad congratulations”
