NOTE: This is an old video, coming from 2017, but given how depressing things have gotten, we found it and thought it’d be a fun one to share. Enjoy!
Chris Pratt, back in 2017, filled in for Jimmy Kimmel on Kimmel’s show. What made the skit amazing was that it was Pratt’s opportunity to show he wasn’t just any normal, woke Hollywood star, but was rather someone who could do what he’s supposed to do: be funny and entertain an audience rather than rant endlessly about how horrible Trump is and Republicans are.
And so viewers were treated to one of the few Jimmy Kimmel shows out there…as it was hosted by Pratt rather than Kimmel. Watch it here:
As you can hear in the video, Pratt said:
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you so much. What’s up, guys? Welcome to Jimmy Kimmel Live. I’m your guest host for the night Chris Pratt. No, I was actually I was kind of nervous to do this tonight. You know, I’ve never done anything like this. But everybody here was so nice to say. Come on, Chris. Just give it the old college try. Which, which for me, I mean, means don’t do it.
Anyways, I said yes. And for me, it was an easy decision. I said, Jimmy, brother, I’ll do anything for you. As long as I can also promote my upcoming film Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom in theaters. You and I are very close. And the movie is awesome. By the way, what I love about these movies, in all seriousness, it answers some of the most compelling questions about science and imagination. Like for instance, can a velociraptor bite a kid’s leg off? The answer to that? Yes, it can.
And later on, I’m going to show you a teaser for the official teaser trailer that comes out on Thursday. Yes, I just teased a teaser teaser. In Hollywood. That’s a little something we’d like to call selling out.
You know, there have been some other guest hosts and the way they prepare. They like to do something like staying up all night working on the middle of working on the monologue. They do a bunch of research on their guests. That’s not what I did. What I did last night, I flew to Seattle and got hammered at a Seahawks game.
Chris, native of Seattle. Raising the Flag gets a tremendous response. I’ve been doing this for years.
It was so great. I mean, there was 70,000 people all I know is the Seahawks won by 14 points. And it’s all because of me. So welcome, Seattle.
I want everyone here to feel safe tonight. You are in the presence of both a Guardian of the Galaxy and a security Guardian of the Galaxy. Guillermo. You know, Guillermo, it’s so nice to have a sidekick that isn’t a CGI raccoon. Or is he? This is actually a real thing. You may not know this, but Guillermo co starred with me in Guardians of the Galaxy Volume to us, right? Should we show him the clip? No, no, I don’t think we have time.
Okay, I need you to look closely right here that was that was actually you? Yes. That’s right. That was me. Have you gotten more work? Because of that? Has it like snowballed into more jobs? Yeah, they asked me to do perfect pitch for perfect pitch for a perfect pitch for Yeah, I can’t wait to see that movie. That’s gonna be great. I have been seeing a lot of you. I’ve seen you all over the place. You were one of the special guests at a holiday parade in McAllen, Texas over the weekend. Do we have time to show the clip? I don’t think it’s gonna keep working. Let’s roll the clip.
So Pratt had a fun time being funny, engaging with the audience and cracking a few jokes. And best of all, he didn’t go on some woke rant. Were only more actors like him!
