WATCH: “The View” Co-Host Loses It Over Swing State Voter Views of Trump, Biden

Speaking during the Thursday, June 27 broadcast of ABC’s “The View,” co-host Joy Behar said that she was depressed by a poll showing that swing state voters, key in this election given the solid blocks of states Trump and Biden control, see former President Donald Trump as being the candidate who will handle threats to American “democracy,” not current President Joe Biden.

Attacking the view of those voters, Behar first brought up the January 6, 2021 incident at the Capitol and then went on to claim that Republicans are on the hunt to “get rid” of Social Security, which is untrue and, in any case, has little to nothing to do with defending “democracy.” So, all in all, it was a typically ridiculous performance from “The View.”

As background, the poll, which was published by the Washington Post on Wednesday, June 26, found that 44% of key swing state voters trust Trump to protect democracy the most, whereas just 33% of those polled think that Biden would do so. The poll also polled what it called “deciders,” which it described as “sporadic or uncommitted voters in key swing states.” It found that 38% of them think Trump is the candidate would will defend democracy the best, and just 29% think that of Biden.

Beginning by attacking voters for not caring enough about the January 6 unpleasantness and adding that their view of the situation as not being overly important is depressing. She said, “Were these people watching TV on January 6?” She continued, with the line about their opinions being depressing, by saying, “This is a depressing, depressing time we’re in.”

She then accused Trump of wanting to “destroy democracy” and “destroy the country,” then lied about Trump being willing to work with the GOP to destroy Social Security, saying, “When people cannot make up their minds between somebody who wants to destroy democracy, wants to destroy this country, the Republican Party will get rid of your Social Security, all sorts of things.”

Still not done, Behar then claimed that the GOP will work to abolish both “gay marriage” and “women’s rights.” Continuing, she said that the only issue with President Biden is “a senior moment,” claiming, “And you have somebody who has a senior moment. And has been managing this country really well, and they’re undecided?”

Pushing back on Behar’s rant, “The View” co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin argued that while undecided voters don’t love Trump, they just can’t get behind Bidne’s policies, such as his open border and student loan scheme. She said, “You guys are like he should be so proud of student loans. People like me don’t think it was the government’s job to do it, or he should be so happy about what he’s doing with the border. We think he waited too long.”

Hostin, on the other hand, argued, “This is between Biden and the couch. I don’t think it’s between Biden and Trump. I think most people, and it’s dismissive to say, you know, they’re undecided, so they’re crazy.” She added, “It’s between apathy, apathy and Biden and so I hope that then the debate that’s going to be watched will answer those questions.”
