Jessica Tarlov is back on “The Five” after maternity leave, and the usual sort of explosions from Gutfeld, Watters, and Pirro over her leftist comments are back in force. Recently, that took the form of Tarlov getting roasted over her attempt to defend Kamala’s running mate, Gov. Walz, who has been accused of “stolen valor.”
As background, Walz, who formerly served as a sergeant major in the Army National Guard, retired and dropped out despite having two years left on his contract when the unit was to be deployed to Iraq, with many saying that he left his men in the lurch by doing so. He has also lied about his military service, saying he carried weapons “in war” when he never served in combat or during a war. Many argue that those exaggerations of his service and his leaving service when it would have meant war show that he has engaged in “stolen valor.”
What sparked Tarlov’s comments was Sen. J.D Vance saying, “What really bothers me about Tim Walz, as a Marine who served his country in uniform, when the United States Marine Corps, when the United States of America asked me to go to Iraq to serve my country, I did it. I did it when they asked me to do it and I did it honorably, and I’m very proud of that service.” Vance added, “When Tim Walz was asked by his country to go to Iraq, you know what he did? He dropped out of the Army and allowed his unit to go without him, a fact that he’s been criticized for aggressively by a lot of the people that he served with.”
Tarlov lost it over Sen. Vance’s comments about Gov. Walz, which came up when Judge Jeanine Pirro used them to eviscerate Walz. Attacking him and bringing up the story that got John Kerry destroyed, she said, “So obviously, this was going to come up because the Trump campaign manager was the one behind the John Kerry Swift Boat attack, which was obviously very persuasive to people.”
Continuing, she attempted to defend Walz’s record by attacking Trump, saying, “He served for 24 years, honorably, then he stopped to run for Congress on a platform of ending the war, and I don’t think that anyone, especially with Donald Trump at the top of a ticket, he dodged the draft four or five times, bone spurs, Captain Bone Spurs.”
Responding, Gutfeld fired back, “Bone spurs are a very serious issue, Jessica.” Finishing her rant, she tried to push another discredited story about former President Trump, in addition to her recent bleach comment, saying, “[Trump] said that people who had gotten captured, ‘suckers and losers.’”
She continued, “He denied he slept with Stormy Daniels but that obviously hasn’t worked out for him. I don’t think you should ever say anyone who served didn’t do a good job in this. If J.D. Vance wants to get into that tit-for-tat, he was in the public affairs department. It’s just a fact of all of this. I don’t think he should be going there with Tim Walz. I think that everyone who has served—”
Then, when Vance was brought up, Tarlov snapped, “He was a reporter!” “He was in a war zone,” Jesse Watters responded. He continued, “He was in Iraq. He was in Iraq, Jessica. He was in the Marines. And this guy left his unit … Listen, it doesn’t matter what I think, Jessica, his unit thinks he’s a coward.” Responding to Watters, Tarlov snapped, “It’s not true!”
