In another head-scratcher and eyebrow-raiser of a broadcast from “The View,” one of the show’s co-hosts, Sunny Hostin, took the opportunity on the Monday, January 6 broadcast of the show and anniversary of the events of January 6, 2021, to try and connect the incident to World War II and the Holocaust.
Hostin’s comments on the matter came as the co-hosts generally discussed the events of that day four year ago and contrasted them with what happened on the day of their discussion, January 6 of 2024, with Vice President Kamala Harris certifying the election of Donald Trump and there not being a massive protest and trespass into the Capitol.
Taking the ball and running with it, hyperbolically commenting on the matter, Hostin told her fellow co-hosts, “I think we need to find moral clarity in this country. I just remember after January 6th, you have someone like Mitch McConnell placing the blame on January 6th where it belongs, squarely on Donald Trump’s shoulders.”
Continuing, she went on the attack against those who say that it is time to “move on” from the events of Jan. 6, 2021, declaring that the day’s riot was one of America’s worst moments in its centuries-long history. She said, “I say ‘no!’ You don’t move on because January 6th was an atrocity. It was one of the worst moments in American history.”
Building on that in jaw-dropping fashion, the co-host of “The View” connected the riot to the Second World War and other tragedies, saying, “When you think about the worst moments in American history, like World War II, things that happened like the Holocaust, chattel slavery. We need to never forget because past becomes prologue.” Watch Hostin have her freakout here:

Slamming Hostin’s breathless commentary, CNN conservative contributor Scott Jennings declared, “Already, today, we have heard some people in other venues say extraordinarily unhinged and vile things, comparing Jan. 6th to the Holocaust, to slavery, to World War II,” he said. “I think we need to arrange our feelings and control ourselves accordingly here and not go off the deep end.”
Also chiming in, one commenter on a clip of the incident posted to X by The Blaze said, “@TheView seriously???? How demeaning to compare WWII and the Holocaust to Jan 6!!! It is a slap in the face to all those who died, Americans, Brits, etc…..as well as the horrors of that the Jewish people endured….. Can you not find anyone with more common sense? Because even tho the hosts may be educated, they are morons!”
Another commenter on the same post noted that such ridiculous claims are, in part, why so many people turned out and voted for Trump, annoyed by the endless and breathless hectoring from the media. That commenter said, “These idiotic and hyperbolic J6 narratives helped motivate people to get out and vote for Trump. For one thing, it is clear Dems overdid ballot box stuffing with that 81 million vote total and importantly…who shows up for an Insurrection unarmed, FFS.”
