Speaking during a visit to D.C.’s Union Station on Wednesday, August 20, White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller sounded off on those who are angrily protesting the federal government’s crackdown on crime in the city, arguing that those “hippies” don’t represent the interests or views of most DC residents.
Such came when Miller appeared alongside both Vice President Vance and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth in the train station that was formerly notorious for being covered by vagrants, and now is being guarded by National Guard troopers who were stationed outside of it as a show of force to deter potential criminals.
Commenting on the situation and what is going on and why the Trump Administration will not be backing down, Deputy Chief of Staff Miller explained that the administration does not think the far-left city government should be allowed to turn the city into a dangerous dump. He said, “We are not going to let the communists destroy a great American city, let alone the nation’s capital.”
Miller further added that, far from backing down, the administration would be, far from listening to the protestations of the “communists” who are so upset about the crackdown on crime, pouring further resources into the city to do everything it can to ensure the city is made safe and pleasant again.
He said, making that vow of further resources and action, “I’m glad they’re here today! Because me, Pete, and the Vice President, are all going to leave here, and inspired by them, we’re going to add thousands more resources to this city to get the criminals and the gang members out of here.”
Continuing, he then commented on those who are angrily protesting the idea that the government is cracking down on crime in the city, saying that those who are doing such a thing certainly don’t think like the average resident who has been terrorized by out-of-control crime rates and the resultant disorder.
He said, commenting on that aspect of the general situation, “And let’s just also address another thing. All these demonstrators you’ve seen out here in recent days, all these elderly white hippies, they’re not part of the city and never have been. And by the way, most of the citizens who live in Washington, D.C., are black.”

Then, getting in a joke about the generally elderly and generally wealthy “hippies” who are protesting the administration’s efforts to arrest the lawbreakers and make DC safe and pleasant again, saying they should take a nap. As he put it, “So we’re going to ignore these stupid white hippies that all need to go home and take a nap because they’re all over 90 years old.”
Concluding, Miller vowed that the administration would not back down on the matter of dealing with crime in the city and ensuring DC’s residents and visitors are protected from the formerly out of control crime. He said, “And we’re going to get back to the business of protecting the American people and the citizens of Washington, D.C.”
