Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) is soon to be out of a job, as her district was dismantled by Republican-led redistricting in the state of Texas, and her attempt to run for the United States Senate seat that is up for re-election in Texas this year went down in flames in a disastrous primary. As could be expected, she is now spending her time rambling and freaking out on social media and TV.
Such came yet again when Crockett appeared on Wednesday, May 13, for an interview on MS NOW’s “All In” in which she went absolutely berserk and claimed that the United States’ democracy was in a “free fall.” One can’t help but think she might be of a different opinion if her Congressional career weren’t coming to a close.
Such came when she was asked by host Chris Hayes about her view of the Supreme Court’s ruling against the Voter Rights Act. “As someone who came up through Texas politics in a state that has had a bunch of very pitched battles over the maps and gerrymandering, particularly around black and Latino representation, and was the first state that just took the order from Donald Trump,” he said.
Continuing, he asked her how she is responding to Texas having nuked her seat so that it could hand over more seats in the House of Representatives to the Republicans, saying, “And in basically a day without any input from voters, started this whole thing. What’s your reaction to how this is playing out?”
Responding, Crockett insisted that Texas having redistricted her out of Congress shows that American democracy is crumbling. She said, absurdly, “Yeah, this is exactly what happens when democracies are in free fall. And that’s exactly what we’re experiencing.”
Continuing, she insisted, “And listen, you and I first met one another when I was a state representative, and I was fleeing the state of Texas, and it was over maps. Then by the time they were going after the new maps that we ran on in March.”
Still not done, she insisted that redistricting was “racist” and something she was fighting against before the Supreme Court stepped in and gave it the green light, saying, “Guess what? I had already been in litigation over the previous maps because they were problematic, and it was a Trump-appointed justice who agreed that even what they were doing in this moment was racist.”

She then declared that the Supreme Court made such a decision before she could file, saying, “But four days before our filing deadline, that was when the Supreme Court decided to say, ‘Nope, we’re not going to deal with this. It’s too close to the filing deadline and therefore we won’t touch it.'”
Concluding, she bizarrely said, without explaining at all what she meant about “votes that have already been cast,” “But we know that they’ve changed their tune as relates to, say, votes that have already been cast.” Watch Crockett here:
