Speaking during an interview on Fox News Channel’s “Hannity” on Monday, December 8, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem went absolutely nuclear on New York Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani, alleging that he appears to be “violating the Constitution” in a video he released in which he tells residents how to evade Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.

As background, the video that set Secretary Noem off was posted by Mamdani on Sunday, December 7. In it, the sanctuary city mayor vowed to protect alien communities, including illegal aliens, and used a recent ICE raid that occurred in Manhattan to describe how New Yorkers can resist ICE agents.

Commenting on the situation in the video and describing what he will be doing once he enters office as mayor, Mamdani said, “As mayor, I’ll protect the rights of every single New Yorker and that includes the more than 3 million immigrants who call this city their home. But we can all stand up to ICE if you know your rights.”

Continuing, Mamdani described how New Yorkers could resist ICE in its attempt to detain and deport illegal aliens, saying, “First, ICE cannot enter into private spaces like your home, school or private area of your workplace without a judicial warrant signed by a judge. If ICE does not have a judicial warrant signed by a judge, you have the right to say, ‘I do not consent to entry,’ and the right to keep your door closed.”

Secretary Noem, sounding off on that video and alleging that Mamdani had likely violated the Constitution with the video, saying, “If he were mayor, [he] could be violating the Constitution by giving advice on how to evade law enforcement and how to get away with breaking the law.”

Building on that, the DHS Secretary argued that the sort of rhetoric pushed by Mamdani and those like him could even be encouraging the sort of attacks that are plaguing ICE officers, saying, “That rhetoric absolutely encourages these violent attacks. In fact, we had a congresswoman attack our ICE law enforcement officers. We’ve had them show up at ICE facilities and CBP facilities and harass these enforcement officers, use vile language, spit on them.”

Further, slamming Mamdani and those like him in the Democratic Party who have done so much to attack ICE, saying, “They’re supposed to be leaders, they’re supposed to be examples that we can point to, and we wouldn’t raise our children to do the things that they do. We would be ashamed of our kids for acting the way that these grown adults act that are supposed to be some of the best in the country, that lead us and protect our Constitution and our country’s freedoms.”

Then, hammering them for attacking ICE rather than doing their jobs, she said, “And these politicians, if they don’t like the law, then go frickin’ change it. Go change the law. That’s your job, is to actually have debate, have discernment, to create a law that actually puts America first.” She concluded by saying, “I’m just grateful the president is focused on that.”
