WATCH: Senate Bursts Out in Laughter at Chuck Schumer after He Makes Ridiculous Claim

In a very entertaining moment out of the United States Senate back on Tuesday, September 30, as the collected senators attempted to strike a deal to avert the shutdown, Senate Minority Leader Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) attempted to claim that the New York Times, one of the most leftist mainstream papers, was against him,

As background, the Senate was unable to strike a deal because the Democrats are insisting upon over a trillion dollars in spending that Republicans have characterized as utterly absurd, such as hundreds of billions of dollars in spending for government healthcare for non-citizens.

In any case, it was as that shutdown situation looked more and more likely, with the Senate coming to the conclusion that it couldn’t strike a deal, that Sen. Schumer gave a rambling rant in which he alleged that the New York Times, his hometown paper from New York and known for its leftism, is “biased” against him.

His evidence of that was a poll conducted by the New York Times with 1,313 registered voters between September 22 and September 27. In it, the paper asked respondents about how they view the idea of a shutdown conducted by the Democrats, particularly the all-important matter of whether the Democrats should shut the government down if their demands weren’t met.

Voters were resoundingly against the idea, with a massive 65% of respondents telling the paper that the government should not be shut down over the Democrats’ demands. In fact, as some were undecided about what to do, only a miniscule 27% of the voters polled thought that a shutdown was appropriate.

Schumer, in any case, insisted that the poll showed the power is biased, claiming, “Now I know the leader is going to show a poll that says that the Democrats will be blamed for the shutdown. There are many more polls that show Republicans are blamed. The question in that poll is biased. Biased. It’s in the New York Times, but it’s biased —”

At that point, Republicans cut Schumer off with their deafening outburst of loud laughter, roiling over the idea that the far-left New York Times was somehow against Sen. Schumer, a far-left senator. Schumer, angry, snapped, “That’s true. I don’t always believe in the New York Times, you can be sure of that. Neither do you.” Watch the incident here:

President Trump, for his part, took to Truth Social on Thursday to note that he would be seeing what programs and spending could be cut. He said, “I have a meeting today with Russ Vought, he of PROJECT 2025 Fame, to determine which of the many Democrat Agencies, most of which are a political SCAM, he recommends to be cut, and whether or not those cuts will be temporary or permanent.”

Continuing, the president wrote, “I can’t believe the Radical Left Democrats gave me this unprecedented opportunity. They are not stupid people, so maybe this is their way of wanting to, quietly and quickly, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! President DJT”
