Speaking during a somewhat contentious Senate appropriations hearing on Thursday, May 8, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Kash Patel tried to toss cold water on one of the main conspiracy theories surrounding the death of Jeffrey Epstein, the child trafficker and pedophile who was connected with many of the Western world’s rich and famous.
That came when Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) pressed Director Patel both on what happened to and with the deceased pedophile and why the FBI and Department of Justice (DOJ) were yet to release information that Americans want to know regarding Epstein and his massive human trafficking operation.
Beginning by pressing Patel directly on the point of what happened to Epstein, as many Americans think he was killed in jail by those who were in a position to be harmed by dirt he had on them when he was found hanged under very suspicious circumstances, Sen. Kennedy asked, “Jeffrey Epstein hang himself or did somebody kill him?”
Patel, quite in contrast to past comments he made about Epstein before he was the FBI Director, particularly regarding the FBI refusing to release the Epstein client list, said that Epstein died by suicide. He said, “I believe he hung himself in a cell in the Metropolitan Detention Center.”
Sen. Kennedy then pressed Patel on why that information has not been released, as President Trump has been in office for over 100 days and Patel has been the confirmed FBI Director for months. Sen. Kennedy asked, “Are you going to release all the information about that?”
Patel gave a vague non-answer in response, telling him, “Senator, we are working through that right now with the Department of Justice.” That wasn’t good enough for Sen. Kennedy, who then pressed him on what the timeline was for releasing the documents, asking, “When you think you’ll have it done, Kash?”
Patel again refused to give an answer, telling him, “I think in the, in the near future, sir.” That left Sen. Kennedy extremely frustrated by Patel’s refusal to give anything approaching a timetable for releasing the important information on Epstein, saying, “Like, before I die?”

Patel responded by claiming he couldn’t release information on how Epstein died because of the shocking and horrifying nature of some of the information around Epstein, saying, “Senator, we’ve been working on that, and we’re doing it in a way that protects victims, and also doesn’t put out into the ether information that is irrelevant for a production of the public such as CSAM.”
Watch them here:
Posters on X were extremely frustrated by Patel’s refusal to release the information, saying things like “I don’t trust Kash because I know where his true loyalties lie. At this point however, it doesn’t matter—everyone already knows the truth” and “This should have been released on day one, just like he promised. At this point, all this so-called ‘working on it’ sounds a lot more like destroying and covering up evidence.”
Another said, “He knows half the country is getting more and more frustrated every day they wait, and he has 1 guy on it, and they won’t release ANYTHING until he finishes with EVERYTHING, meaning we will never see ANYTHING. If they wanted to make the people happy, he should put out what he processes every day so the people at least get something.”
