Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy turned loose Reps. Comer and Jordan to poke and prod around the Biden Family and its alleged wrongdoing with his announcement of an impeachment inquiry, to which the left responded with a not at all surprising amount of fire and anger. Among the other not surprising aspects of their response was Sen. Fetterman having a bizarre reaction to the news.
As background, Sen. Fetterman was never considered especially bright by those in the conservative media, and then he had a stroke during his campaign against Dr. Oz, after which he had trouble stringing together sentences. He then had further medical complications after becoming a senator, but was presumably able to rest some during the Senate recess, as he was out of the public eye. Now he is back with a new style of facial hair and a new thing for the online right to poke fun at, which was his strange reaction to the news that Speaker McCarthy had opened the impeachment inquiry into President Biden.
As you will hear in the video below, the reporter asked Sen. Fetterman a normal, run-of-the-mill question about the issue that was not deserving of an odd response. The reporter asked, “I’m asking about this news that Speaker McCarthy has formally launched an impeachment inquiry.” But flailing Fetterman, never particularly able to sound the slightest bit elegant even before his stroke, had something of a meltdown in response, saying, “Oh my god, really? Oh my gosh. You know, oh, it’s devastating. Oh, don’t do it. Please don’t do it!”
Presumably, Sen. Fetterman was mocking the reporter and being sarcastic, but given his trouble speaking and his past odd comments, which were not sarcastic, it can be hard to tell what he means when he says weird things.
In a letter to Republicans in which he explained the impeachment, Sen. McCarthy said, “Eyewitness testimony revealed that the President joined multiple phone calls and had various interactions with his son’s business partners. For example, Devon Archer, Hunter Biden’s business partner, testified that Joe Biden spoke or met with Hunter Biden’s business associates around 20 times, and that after meeting with President Biden, foreign nationals sent Hunter Biden millions of dollars, and bought him a Porsche.”
Continuing, he added, “Bank records show that nearly $20 million in payments were directed to Biden family members and associates through numerous shell companies. The Treasury Department has more than 150 transactions involving the Biden family and their business associates that were flagged as “suspicious activity” by U.S. banks. A trusted FBI informant provided information about alleged bribes to the Biden family. There is also evidence that Biden used his official office to coordinate with Hunter Biden’s business partner about Hunter’s role in Burisma, a Ukrainian energy company.”
Concluding, he said, “Finally, despite these serious allegations, it appears that the President’s family has been afforded special treatment by Biden’s own administration – treatment they would not otherwise have received if they were not related to the President. For example, in July, there was the sweetheart plea deal that President Biden’s Department of Justice tried to sneak past the public. Had a federal judge not rejected the deal, it would have gone through unnoticed.”
