Vice President JD Vance paused a Nebraska campaign rally to lead the crowd in the Lord’s Prayer after a woman suffered an apparent medical emergency behind him. With responders attending to her, Vance invited those gathered to join him in prayer. The vice president then went into the stands to speak with the woman himself. Upon returning to the microphone, he told the audience she was doing fine.
The incident occurred during Vance’s October 22nd rally in North Platte, where he was campaigning for Nebraska Republicans ahead of the midterm elections. Among the candidates he was supporting were Senator Pete Ricketts and Governor Jim Pillen, both seeking reelection. The event also included an announcement concerning investment in domestic fertilizer manufacturing, which Vance said would help bring down costs for farmers. The medical emergency interrupted the closing portion of his remarks.
Supporters behind the vice president began signaling for assistance when they noticed the woman needed help. Vance stopped speaking and turned toward the commotion, then asked his team to bring a doctor. People nearby used campaign signs to fan the woman while officers attended to her. As responders worked, Vance moved between the podium and the edge of the stage, asking the audience to remain calm and give medical personnel room to do their jobs.
Fox News’ “Outnumbered” featured the moment in a clip shared on social media. The host explained that the program had moved to another story when the emergency caught the presenters’ attention. “Just moments ago, we were showing you Vice President JD Vance reacting. Well, actually, he was speaking to voters,” the host said. “And then, for a moment, when we had gotten back to the next story, we watched from the corner of our eyes a woman who suffered an apparent medical episode during the rally in Nebraska.”
The host directed viewers back to the rally footage. “Now, that can happen, but what happened next was unusual and special. Please watch.” At the microphone, Vance invited audience members to pray while the woman received assistance. “While they’re working on her, maybe those who are of the praying type would join me in a prayer,” he said. “I always, in moments like this, try to pray as the Lord taught us to pray.”
Vance began reciting the prayer: “Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” He continued, “Give us this day our daily bread, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, now and forever. Amen.”

After checking on the woman, Vance returned with an update. “First of all, praise be to God, she’s doing fine,” he said. He explained that she had told him this was her first political rally. Vance also asked attendees to allow her to leave so she could focus on her health.
Following the event, Vance addressed the emergency in a post on X. He thanked the medical staff and first responders for their quick assistance. He also credited the crowd with helping ensure the woman could receive care. “My prayers are with the woman who had a medical emergency at today’s rally in Nebraska,” he wrote.
