In a clip posted to social media, Rep. Brandon Gill criticized the mayor of Chicago for prioritizing illegal immigrants over his own citizens. The mayor, Brandon Johnson, fumbled through a series of half-hearted responses but was unable to mount a defence. Gill asked the mayor why he advocates for illegals to sit on school boards and to vote in local elections.
“The topic, Mayor Johnson, I want to start with you. One of your first actions as mayor was establishing a Deputy Mayor for immigrant, migrant and refugee rights. I want to ask you a series of questions. If you could answer with a yes or no answer, that’d be great,” Rep. Brandon Gil began. “First of all, do you support allowing illegal aliens to obtain driver’s licenses, just yes or no?”
“So the city of Chicago has been a welcoming city for over 40 years,” Johnson said before being cut off. ” I’ll take that as a yes. Next question, that’s the policy that we will hold: Do you support tax dollars subsidizing or paying for the health care of illegal aliens?” Gill asked. ” I support investments in all residents of the people of Chicago, and that’s what I do,” replied the beleaguered mayor.
“That’s yes as well,” the Representative responded. “Do you support free or reduced college for illegal aliens?” ” Again, I support the investments of all residents of the people of Chicago, “Joshson replied, before Brandon interjected. “That is a yes. Next question, do you support allowing noncitizens to vote in local elections?” To which the mayor replied, ” Again, I’m not over the jurisdiction of that type of law. But again, I’m committed to investing in all residents.”
“I’ll take that as a yes, I’ve got an article from the Chicago Sun Times, and I’ll quote here briefly, ‘Johnson proposed, among other things, that all residents, ” The representative said. ” regardless of citizenship status, be able to vote for Chicago Board of Education members.’ Next question, your website states, and this is your campaign website. ‘ I will not stop fighting until abortion access is completely secure for people all over the country.'”
“And quote, yes or no, yes or no. Do you support taxpayer funded abortions for illegal aliens?” he said hammering away with relentless questions. “I Support the reproductive rights of all people!” answered Johnson. ” That is a yes as well. Your mayoral transition website mentioned support for creating a Chicago Board of Education noncitizen advisory board. Again, yes or no. Do you support appointing noncitizens to government advisory boards?”
“I was invited here today to discuss a welcome. … I was invited here to discuss welcoming … If you’re interested in asking about the welcome city that is, I’m happy to answer those questions,” the mayor stammered back. Social media users were quick to express their anger with the Chicago mayor. “this mayor enthusiastically supports every single one of those questions.. yet he refuses to just admit it… that is how you know he knows.. it’s wrong,” one account reacted.

“He doesn’t get to unilaterally decide to give illegals anything having to do with rights or tax dollars. He’s not a king and we have a executive branch and laws governing this already. He should be arrested and put in prison,” said one user. ” I really don’t like how my hard earned money is being used by our federal government. I also know that not filing and paying income tax is against the law (no offense to those who believe there is no legal basis for income tax),” said another. ” Now if I take a page out of their playbook and ignore the federal law, we all know how this story unfolds for me. No more free passes – charge, arrest and prosecute every one of them!”
