Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX), who is currently involved in a tense primary runoff race against Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton for his seat in the Senate, lost his temper with LindellTV reporter Alison Steinberg after she called him out for betraying President Donald Trump and his America First agenda for years. A video clip of the incident has gone viral on social media.
“What do you have to say to the Americans who are questioning why President Trump should endorse you when many say that you have been vehemently against his agenda?” Steinberg, a reporter for the conservative network, asked the incumbent senator in the clip. “Do you speak for all these Americans?” Cornyn asked Steinberg, speaking over her. “I don’t understand.”
Steinberg, demonstrating she’s not a pushover, fired back, “Yeah. Actually, I do.” She then continued with her question, asking, “Many people have been asking this question. Do you have a response? I mean you’ve been borderline pro-amnesty, red flag laws–” Cornyn immediately cut off the reporter before she could finish asking her questions, his emotional tolerance reaching its limit.
According to Yahoo News, Cornyn, clearly agitated, accused Steinberg of being a paid influencer. “Are you being paid by the Paxton campaign?” Steinberg again stated she represents millions of other Americans, Cornyn, growing angrier, shot her down and then quickly ended the interview. “I think you’re a paid influencer!” the Texas Republican went on to tell Steinberg. “Because none of that’s true, and you know it.”
At the time of the incident, Cornyn found himself in headlines after penning an op-ed for the New York Post, where he changed his stance on the filibuster, saying he would support “whatever changes to Senate rules that may prove necessary” in order to get the SAVE America Act passed into law and to restore funding to the Department of Homeland Security.
The SAVE Act is a piece of legislation designed to protect and preserve election integrity by requiring all individuals registering to vote to provide proof of their citizenship and to present a photo ID to cast a ballot at the polls. Democrats strongly oppose the bill, believing it will disenfranchise those looking to register to vote or cast ballots in elections, as they may not be able to obtain proper credentials in order to participate.
Strong opinions abounded on the viral clip, with one individual going on to express their true feelings about the incumbent Texas senator, writing, “Cornyn is a swamp creature. He works for himself and the uniparty, not for the American people.” Another stated that no politician, especially President Trump, should endorse Cornyn. “Cornyn is not worthy of any endorsements,” the post said.

A third user said that Cornyn has never been someone who works for the American people. “@JohnCornyn
has never worked for Americans. I am pretty sure the President is aware of these interviews. Cornyn knows his political career is over. Paxton will do the same thing Trump did in 2024 Landslide victory. Trump loves winning big,” the person wrote.
