WATCH: RINO Brags about Taking Steps to Crush Trump’s Tariff Agenda

In a shocking betrayal of President Trump, Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE) introduced legislation to block Trump’s tariffs, earning him widespread condemnation from online conservatives. Speaking to Margaret Brennan on CBS’ Face the Nation, Bacon crossed the aisle to stab Trump in the back with his shortsighted bill.

For context, conservatives have long been aware of Republicans who betray their constituents by adopting Swamp Politics when they become entrenched in Washington. The term RINO, or Republican In Name Only, has become a shorthand for these treacherous politicians.

Starting the interview, Brennan asked the Nebraska representative to describe his new bill. She said, “I know you are introducing companion legislation to what Senator Cantwell just laid out for us, but as I understand it, in the House, Republican leaders have already restricted the ability to rein in changes to the Mexico, Canada, and China tariffs. They tucked language into the continuing resolution. Does that get in your way when you are trying to claw back some congressional control of tariffs?”

Answering the woke journalist, Bacon stated, “First of all, good morning. Margaret, thanks for having me on, and I enjoyed listening to Senator Cantwell. I support the legislation that Senator Grassley and Senator Cantwell have introduced. We have several Republicans in the Senate, and I have some beginning support on the House side, which we’ll unveil tomorrow.”

Explaining the tough battle facing the bill, the RINO said, “It will be harder to pass this in the House, no doubt. I think if we get 60 votes in the Senate, they’ll put pressure on the House to look at this. And if we continue to see the stock market go in a certain direction, or if we see inflation or unemployment shift in a bad way, I think then this bill becomes a very viable bill.”

Providing more detail, Bacon said, “So it will not pass tomorrow or maybe in the next couple of weeks, but this will be in the queue that we can use, and it’s time that Congress restores its authorities. Here in the Constitution, it’s clear that the House and the Senate. Congress has the power of tariffs and taxes, and we gave some of that power to the executive branch, and I think in hindsight, that was a mistake.”

Reacting to this shocking betrayal, prominent conservative influencer Nick Sotor took to X on April 6, 2025, to blast the RINO. He posted, “🚨 WTF? Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE) just announced he will be introducing legislation to BLOCK President Trump’s ability to levy tariffs on other nations. The people of Nebraska deserve better. PRIMARY THIS ANTI-TRUMP RINO IN 2026!”

In the comments under his post, users expressed their anger with the treacherous Republican representative. One such comment read,” President Trump’s approval rating went up to 53% after he implemented his tariffs and Golden Age of America plan. Inflation is down to 1.4%, 50 countries have called to negotiate. 228,000 jobs created. His plan is working.  @RepDonBacon and  @SenRandPaul not so much. They are at 31% and falling.”
