Speaking in an interview with NBC News on Wednesday, November 6, just the day after the election in which Americans decisively voted to make former President Donald Trump president again, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced a plan to start draining the swamp, saying he will clear out “entire departments” at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Beginning, the former Independent presidential candidate who became a Trump ally who plans to “Make America Healthy Again” with his role inside the Trump Administration, said, “There are entire departments, like the nutrition department at FDA, that are that have to go, that are are not doing their job.”
Continuing, he explained that American food is packed full of additives that aren’t allowed and aren’t included in other countries, saying, “They’re not protecting our kids. Why do we have Fruit Loops [in] this country that have 18 or 19 ingredients, and you go to Canada and it’s got two or three?”
Building on that, he explained that whether he can eliminate entire agencies or not, he will “get the corruption out of the agencies.” He explained that he has a background in fighting back against the same agencies he’ll now be confronting from the inside, saying, “That’s what I’ve been doing for 40 years. I’ve sued all those agencies.”
Further, the MAHA proponent added that it’s time to fight the corruption to help Americans get healthier, saying, “I have a PhD in corporate corruption, and that’s what I do. And once they’re not corrupt, once Americans are getting good science, and are allowed to make their own choices, they’re going to get a lot of healthier.”
RFK Jr. then turned describing what Trump wants him to handle. Beginning that part of the discussion, he said, “One, clean up the corruption of the agencies, particularly the conflicts of interest that have turned those agencies into captive agencies for the pharmaceutical industry and the other, the food industry, the other industries that they’re supposed to be regulating.”
Continuing, he added that it’s time the agencies got back to using empirical evidence and science, saying, “Number two, to return those agencies to the gold standard, science, empirically-based, evidence based medicine that they were famous for when I was a kid.”
Then, concluding with the third objective Trump has set for him, he explained, “And number three, to make America to end the chronic disease epidemic. And President Trump has told me that he wants to see measurable, concrete results within two years in terms of a measurable diminishment and chronic disease among America’s kids.”
Later on, Mr. Kennedy said he was not sure if he wanted to be nominated Secretary of Health and Human Services. He said, “I may be more effective in the in the White House, health czar or something like that. But we don’t know. We haven’t. We haven’t decided. We’re meeting today on these issues.” He added, “What I’m going to do is make sure that Americans have good information, good, the best gold standard science about their food and medicines, and then leave the choice to them.”
