Recently, footage of then-Vice President Joe Biden from 2015 has resurfaced on social media. The footage shows former Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions swatting away Biden’s hand as he appeared to reach for Sessions’ granddaughter.
Conservatives have often ridiculed Biden for having strange interactions with young children, and this incident from January 15 only fuels such claims. Popular conservative social media account Travis_4_Trump, uploaded the old CSPAN footage, commenting, “Remember when Jeff Sessions slapped Joe Biden’s hand away from his grand daughter? He knew. They all knew what he was and still is,” he wrote.
“If a grandfather has to swat a man’s hand from his grandaughter, then he shouldn’t be around children, much less running for president,” one person commented on the footage. “The fact there was a single person who supported and voted for this thing is more disappointing than any fraud committed in the process of getting him there,” another person added. “This is the only time I’ve seen anyone protect the child. All the other parents turn a blind eye to joe. Good job protecting the child,” another comment read.
The popular “Sputnik” account on X wrote, “Biden makes a girl burst into tears during Easter celebrations. During the White House Easter Egg Roll, the US president approached the girl from behind and seemed to ruin the poor child’s day.”
Furthermore, Fox News
reported last year on another Biden incident which became a widely discussed topic on social media.
“Now a very important thing I told my daughters and granddaughters — no serious guys until you’re 30!” Biden told a woman at an even in Irvine, California. The unknown woman responded, “Ok,” as Biden leaned in close to her. She added, “I’ll keep that in mind.”
Moreover, during a speech Biden gave last year to the National Education Association, Biden also raised eyebrows after he made comments alluding to a friendship he had with a 12-year-old girl when he was 30. He made the remarks when he paused his speech after noticing a woman in the crowd he claimed to have known years ago.
The president said, “And everybody found out, there’s not a lot of total climate deniers anymore after they’ve seen what happened this year. But guess what, we got a lot to do.” He then pointed to the audience, saying, “You gotta say hi to me.” Biden added, “We go back a long way. She was 12 and I was 30, but anyway. This woman helped me get an awful lot done. Anyway.”
