In a recently unearthed video, Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) slammed the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade as “illegitimate.” In an even more controversial remark, she urged pro-abortion activists to take to the streets in protest, as captured in a viral video. Her calls for mass demonstrations followed a surprise 6-3 ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, which ended federal legalization of abortion.
Reacting to the situation, President Biden said the decision was a “tragic error” and urged peaceful protests. However, other Democrats encouraged demonstrations at the homes of Supreme Court justices, which eventually escalated to the attempted assassination of Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
In any case, the controversial squad member was captured participating in a wild protest in the viral video. The New York Democrat shouted, “This decision: illegitimate,” along with dozens of enraged protestors. Shouting, “Into the streets,” she led the crowd in a repetitive chant.
Reacting to the decision, President Joe Biden was annoyed by the decision but urged moderation in the face of AOC’s rhetoric. He stated, “I call on everyone, no matter how deeply they care about this decision, to keep all protests peaceful…”
However, as we reported, many Democrats reacted to the decision with unacceptable threats of violence against Supreme Court justices. For example, Panos Anastasiou, a 76-year-old Democrat donor, was taken into custody for sending over 465 threatening messages to six Supreme Court judges and their families between March 2023 and July 202.
The unhinged threats were motivated by decisions such as Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, as well as other rulings on presidential immunity, which drove the woke activist insane. Describing the messages, the DOJ reported the posts contained violent, racist, and homophobic rhetoric, including threats of assassination.
For context, Anastasiou faces several counts of threatening a federal judge and 13 counts of interstate threats, which carry potential sentences of up to 10 and 5 years per count, respectively. Reacting to this case, Attorney General Garland harshly criticized the vile remarks.

Describing the vile tirade, the U.S. Department of Justice issued a statement which described how the messages: “escalated to messages intending to threaten harm toward the victims. The messages contained violent, racist, and homophobic rhetoric coupled with threats of assassination by torture, hanging, and firearms.”
Explaining the consequences for the designated activist, the DOJ continued their breakdown, saying, “charged by indictment with nine counts of making threats against a federal judge and 13 counts of making threats in interstate commerce.”
Adding his own take, Merrick B. Garland, then Attorney General Merrick, reported, “We allege that the defendant made repeated, heinous threats to murder and torture Supreme Court Justices and their families to retaliate against them for decisions he disagreed with.”

Concluding his comments, he added, “Our justice system depends on the ability of judges to make their decisions based on the law, and not on fear. Our democracy depends on the ability of public officials to do their jobs without fearing for their lives or the safety of their families.”
