Speaking during an interview on Fox News Channel with FNC host Charlie Hurt, Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) argued that First Lady Melania Trump ought receive the Nobel Peace Prize, or at least be considered for it, alongside her husband, President Trump, for efforts to bring about peace in the conflicts bedevilling the world.
As background, what sparked the comments made by Rep. Luna were a series of initiatives for peace made by the Trumps. President Trump has famously worked to, as he claims, end six world conflicts in the first six months of his presidency, and has tried to bring an end to the Russo-Ukraine War. Further, Melania penned a letter to Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin in which she called on him to help end the war.
In the letter, she said, in part, “Dear President Putin, Every child shares the same quiet dreams in their heart, whether born randomly into a nation’s rustic countryside or a magnificent city-center. They dream of love, possibility, and safety from danger.” She continued, “As parents, it is our duty to nurture the next generation’s hope. As leaders, the responsibility to sustain our children extends beyond the comfort of a few.”
She added, “Undeniably, we must strive to paint a dignity-filled world for all—so that every soul may wake to peace, and so that the future itself is perfectly guarded. A simple yet profound concept, Mr. Putin, as I am sure you agree, is that each generation’s descendants begin their lives with a purity—an innocence which stands above geography, government, and ideology.”
It was in response to that letter and the president’s initiative that Rep. Luna suggested Melania should receive the Peace Prize alongside her husband. Beginning her comments to host Charlie Hurt on the matter, Rep. Luna commented on Trump’s general successes. She said, “Look, President Trump just secured a win with some of the largest tax cuts in history. Not to mention, he’s going to be capping prescription prices.”
Continuing, Rep. Luna commented on the matter of the Nobel Peace Prize, saying that a great variety of influential people have nominated the president for it. She told Hurt, “And also, he’s continuing to broker world peace, so much so that literally hundreds of monks have nominated him, including world leaders, for the Nobel Peace Prize.”
Chiming, Hurt asked if the idea of the president receiving the award is at all realistic, or if they despise him enough that they won’t reward his efforts to bring peace. He asked the congresswoman, “Do you think that the Nobel Peace Prize committee people will actually come around? At some point, I guess maybe they need him more than he needs them.”

That’s when Luna commented on Melania’s efforts to bring peace and the idea that she might be nominated. She said, “Most certainly. If the Nobel Peace Prize committee knows what’s good for them, they’d do the right thing and nominate [sic] him. But also, too, I think that Melania Trump might also have a nomination. I think that she’s been very instrumental in discussions with Russia. And also, too, I think that she’s going to be a key reason why we’re able to broker peace with Ukraine.”
