In an epic mid-February rant on his podcast, “The Joe Rogan Experience,” podcaster Joe Rogan called out the federal government for corruption and praised the Elon Musk-led Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) for how it is finding and demolishing the monumental waste of taxpayer money in which the federal government is engaged.
As background, DOGE has used its access to the federal payment system in the Treasury Department to search out and cut wasteful spending that many suspect is happening but have previously had trouble finding the details of. Such findings include perhaps a trillion dollars in ridiculous DEI spending, under-utilized federal real estate and leases, and small-scale but still infuriating waste, such as the contractor paid nearly $60k for watering just 8 plants.
Rogan, in any case, sounded off on the left for its attacks on DOGE, arguing that it isn’t serious about reducing the deficit by slashing wasteful spending. He said, “People on the left are completely ignoring the rampant corruption and conflicts of interest. Don’t you think we have a serious problem with our massive deficit? Yet, we’re wasting billions of dollars every year on horse sh*t?”
Continuing, Rogan praised DOGE for hiring some of the best and brightest young minds to analyze the federal spending and what sort of waste there is, arguing that Elon and they know what they are doing when it comes to highly detailed examination of things. He said, “Elon hired DOGE wizards—like the guy who used AI to read the burnt scroll from Pompeii. These are exactly the kind of people you want digging into this stuff and that’s why Elon got them. He knows what the f*ck he’s doing.”
Building on that with something of a digression, Rogan then noted that the current sort of technology there is has enabled people in a huge way, and Elon’s purchase of Twitter empowered freedom of expression in such a way that now Elon is leading a team of teens as they expose wasteful and corrupt federal spending.
Making that insightful point, Rogan said, “It’s all so strange. You have this technology that allows people to express themselves online. Then you have this maniac billionaire who buys the biggest one and makes it the Wild West again. And then you have government being exposed for what it is.”
Turning back to the sort of corruption and waste DOGE has found, Rogan noted that thousands of leftist NGOs were being funded with taxpayer dollars as they pushed propaganda, which isn’t good for any Americans. He said, “We talked about the web of 50,000 NGOs that were all intertwined supporting liberal causes. They’re finding out that it’s this complicated propaganda network. That’s not good for anybody left or right.”

He then slammed the idea that small percentage spending cuts don’t matter, noting that they’re still a massive amount of money and that money could have been used to help people. He said, “To the people saying it’s only $10 billion. What about the people in Maui? That could have been fixed for $5 billion. Instead of doing that, they are telling us we have to continue to fund these programs in foreign countries. What about America? What about our tax dollars helping people in Los Angeles or North Carolina?”
