WATCH: Radical Democrat Running for Michigan Senate Seat Calls for Dismantling, Defunding ICE

Democratic candidate for Senate, Abdul El-Sayed, who formerly served as the Wayne County public health director, is calling for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to be abolished, citing the shooting deaths of anti-ICE agitators Alex Pretti and Renee Good in Minneapolis, along with alleged rough treatment of illegal aliens as his justification.

El-Sayed, who recently made headlines by going on a podcast and ripping into Vice President JD Vance and his family, said that his stance on ICE is based on his own set of moral principles. The Michigan Democrat released a statement following the deaths of Good and Pretti, saying that ICE “cannot operate within the bounds of the Constitution or human decency — it must be torn down and immigration enforcement must be rethought from scratch.”

He also doesn’t believe that ICE can be retrained or redeemed in any capacity. In regards to retraining, El-Sayed said that such a strategy will not repair an agency he claims has “murdered two American citizens,” terrorized communities, and transformed into a paramilitary force that operates with impunity. “When I’m in the U.S. Senate, I intend to lead the effort to abolish ICE,” the Democratic candidate stated during an interview with a Michigan news outlet.

According to the Detroit Metro Times, El-Sayed also said that the United States can have effective border security and immigration enforcement, but in order to accomplish that goal, ICE needs to be torn down and an alternative created in its place. “We can have a safe and secure southern border. We can enforce immigration law,” El-Sayed went on to say.

“But ICE is not about that. ICE is a paramilitary force normalizing the use of government power on peaceful streets, in thrall to one man. They are using the pretext of immigration to weaponize against the laws and norms and mores of our democracy and our Constitution itself. And I believe that it ought to be abolished,” he continued.

El-Sayed also condemned those who he feels are refusing to see ICE the same way as being “cowards.” Conservatives commenting on a viral clip of El-Sayed affirming his desire to see ICE be dismantled were not too pleased with the Democrat and his ideas. One user on Facebook said, “I’ve read about this in school. The book was THE RISE AND FALL OF THE ROMAN EMPIRE! History is repeating itself.”

Another took a shot at El-Sayed’s religious faith — Islam — suggesting ICE agents carry pork products, which Muslims are forbidden to eat, around with them on the job. “ICE should be required to carry around bacon at all times.” Another slammed him for his harsh statements about the vice president’s family, saying, “This coming from the guy who is facing backlash about making nasty comments about Vance’s family.”

“And yeah I know there are those of you who are gonna say more negative crap and defend what he said but fact of the matter is attacking the man himself is one thing but the second you start bringing his family into it is another,” the individual continued. Another user summed it up well when she said, “Come on, people. Stop voting for these s**theads.”
