In an absolutely crazy broadcast of ABC’s “The View” on Friday, March 7, co-host Sunny Hostin, who is increasingly becoming known for her radical takes on fighting against President Donald Trump, declared to her fellow co-hosts that Democrats need to be willing to “fight and die” to defeat Trump because he is an “existential crisis” for America.
That came as the co-hosts discussed the situation surrounding Rep. Al Green, the Democratic lawmaker who was thrown out of the State of the Union address on the night of Tuesday, March 4, and then was censured by the House of Representatives on Thursday, March 6, for his lack of decorum during the president’s address. Ten Democrats voted with Republicans to censure him.
Beginning her angry tirade about the situation, Hostin snapped that Democrats aren’t acting as they should to be a radical opposition party trying to hold up President Trump’s agenda, and that they should all be acting like Rep. Green. She said, “They don’t know how to fight and be part of an opposition party. Representative Green gave them the example.”
Continuing, she breathlessly declared that Social Security and Medicare are on the chopping block, a patently false statement, and that “people will die” if Trump’s agenda goes unchecked. She snapped, effectively accusing Trump of wanting to kill Americans, “The Democrats are not meeting the moment. It is very clear that Medicaid is on the table. It is very clear that Social Security is on the table. It is very clear that people will die.”
She then said that the Democrats need to be acting like “the civil rights generation,” declaring that that generation was willing to do whatever it took to get what they wanted. Making that head-scratcher of a comparison, Hostin said, “The Baby Boomers, the civil rights generation — they knew what they had to do.”
That is when she got to her claims about Democrats needing to be willing to “fight and die” to defeat Trump, insisting once again that there is an “existential crisis” afoot. “They were willing to fight and die for their rights. This generation of Congress, they are not meeting the moment. This is an existential crisis.”
Still not done, Hostin then added that Democrats should have joined Rep. Green in leaving the House Chamber when he was ordered removed by Speaker of the House Mike Johnson for disrupting President Donald Trump’s speech. She snapped, “They should be ashamed of themselves. They all should have walked out with him.”

Disagreeing, one of Sunny’s co-hosts, Ana Navarro, argued that some decorum in the House is a good thing. She said, “I like civility in Congress and I think that when you are in Congress, we are not at a WWE wrestling match. This is not the House of Commons. This is the U.S. Capitol. The problem is, that this is not happening in a vacuum. We all remember when Joe Wilson the Republican Congressman who stood up against Barack Obama giving the State of the Union and called him a liar.”
