In a big blow to Rick Jackson, a billionaire businessman running in Georgia’s gubernatorial election, and trying to win the Republican nomination in that race, he was made to admit in a public setting that he has been involved in donating to Democratic causes and siding with RINO Liz Cheney, the former congresswoman from Wyoming known for attacking Trump.
Speaking about those matters, he began by admitting that he donated to a Political Action Committee (PAC) affiliated with Rep. Liz Cheney after she started her witch hunts against President Trump. He said, “The, it is true, slightly true, that I donated to a PAC in 2021 that I did not know was affiliated with Elizabeth Cheney, so that, that part is true.”
Then, stumbling over his words as he tried to explain what had been going on with his donating to Democratic politicians in Georgia like Stacey Abrams, he began, “The most latest one is, is a slightly true, is the way they’re saying is not true about Stacey Abrams, they think I’m supported her against Brian Kemp. That is totally not true.”
Explaining why he donated to the Abrams campaign, he claimed it was just an attempt to effectively bribe them into supporting tort reform, saying, “In 2013, I was trying, our company was trying to do tort reform, and she was the minority leader, and the only way you could get a meeting, we had to get Democrats on board to do medical tort reform for doctors and so forth, so our company gave $500.”
He added, trying to make his donations to Abrams seem less bad than many think they are, “I’ve never given to a Democrat personally, but our company gave $500 in order to get a meeting, because that’s the way politics works from that standpoint. So that was in 2013.”
Watch him awkwardly try to explain what was going on here:

His more MAGA competitor, Burt Jones, sounded off on him for his RINO past when speaking to Fox 5, saying, “He’s not being honest with the voters out there about who he supported in the past, and he’s trying to conveniently be a Trump supporter now that he’s running for governor.”
Continuing, Jones noted that his opponent doesn’t really seem to get the legislative process or have any idea how to get things done, saying, “The guy wants to be governor of the State of Georgia. He needs to actually come on stage and illustrate that he knows exactly how it operates, through the legislative process and all these things that he says he can get done. Explain to them how you can get them done, because I’m the only one in this race that has a business background and has legislative experience that knows how to do the job.”
Jones also argued, commenting on what he has achieved politically, “We’ve had a great run the last four years of cutting taxes, providing educational opportunities, and increasing access to healthcare. These are all things that I will know how to do on day one by bringing my business background, common sense leadership, and legislative experience to the table—which this other guy just doesn’t have.”
