Post Malone is one of the biggest music stars not named Swift or Wallen. The 28-year-old rapper and singer, whose real name is Austin Post burst onto the music scene in 2016 with his debut album “Stoney” which reached number four on the charts and spawned four top-10 singles.
Since then it has been a fast track to superstardon for the “Rock Star” singer, as he has expanded his repertoire into pop music to complement his rap work. With a face full of tattoos and a quirky, awkward personality, Malone’s ethereal approach to pop songs and rap songs drew in fans, as did his wide range of collaborators.
Malone has recorded with Nicki Minaj, 21 Savage, Ty Dolla Sign, Swae Lee and others to release a broad assortment of songs, appealing to both fans of rap and r&b as well. Perhaps Malone’s most prized accomplishment is his baby daughter.
The rapper and songwriter recently spoke about why he is so intent on keeping his private life private, and the cameras away from his family. “I feel like a lot of people feel entitled to know every single detail of everyone’s life and it’s why I don’t want to post any pictures of my baby, because I want her to be able to make that decision whenever she wants to and is ready.”
Malone has been successful at keeping the child out of the cameras eye. In fact, her name hasn’t even been publicly revealed, despite the rapper having her initials tattooed on his forehead. It is rare in today’s society to be able to keep the paparazzi and prying eyes away, but so far so good.
The Circles singer took to social media recently to clear up why he has appeared to lose weight, and drug use rumors .“I wanted to say that I’m not doing drugs, I’ve had a lot of people ask me about my weight loss and I’d suppose, performance on stage. I’m having a lot of fun performing, and have never felt healthier. I guess dad life kicked in and I decided to kick soda, and start eating better so I can be around for a long time for this little angel. Next up is smokes and brews, but I like to consider myself a patient man… My brain is in a super dope place, and I’m the happiest I’ve been in a long time.”
Malone credits his daughter and fatherhood for helping him kick some of his bad habits and destructive behavior. While he hasn’t stopped drinking altogether, he talks about being able to kick addiction and control his use. “I am responsible now. It was to a really rough point, and I couldn’t get up off the floor for weeks. I just have super beautiful people around me, and I met a really beautiful person that made me feel like a human being again. It’s the guidance out of the dark into the light. … She saved my f***ing life — it’s pretty epic.”
The singer has a deep love for bluegrass music, and even has plans for an acoustic album. Until then, Post Malone will continue his “If Y’all Weren’t Here, I’d Be Crying” tour and keeping his girlfriend and daughter away from prying eyes as best he can.
