Shortly after the death of slain conservative icon Charlie Kirk, 19-year-old Megan Bucheger from Snellville, NC, was arrested for allegedly vandalizing a Tire Dock business sign memorializing the TPUSA founder with a foul message. The sign outside the business originally read, “In loving memory of Charlie Kirk.” Bucheger befouled it with spray-painted graffiti saying, “RACIST SYBAU”.
Reacting to the horrible and infuriating vandalism, conservatives blasted the vandal online with dozens of hilarious comments. Likewise, Walton County Sheriff Brooks condemned the act, emphasizing the need for respect during mourning, and Deputies were photographed cleaning the sign.
Reacting to this significant breach of trust, law enforcement officers issued a series of responses from the time the vandalism was first discovered. For example, when it was first found and the investigation was just kicking off, one official with the sheriff’s department said, “Sheriff Brooks wants to make it perfectly clear. Not one law enforcement agency in Walton County will stand for this behavior. The Sheriff will use all resources to assist Loganville PD in identifying and arresting the individuals responsible for this conduct. Not everyone agrees with the beliefs of Charlie Kirk but everyone owes respect to those who are mourning his death. He was a husband, a father, and a friend.”
Further building on that point as the investigation ramped up, the sheriff’s office wrote a confident message, saying, “Not everyone agrees with the beliefs of Charlie Kirk, but everyone owes respect to those who are mourning his death. He was a husband, a father and a friend‚”
Then the investigation proved successful, and the police were able to add more details in a Facebook post. Doing so, Loganville Chief Dick Lowry announced the arrest. “IN CUSTODY!! Megan Phyllis Bucheger, 19, of Snellville has been arrested for the vandalism to the Tire Dock. I am extremely grateful to our Detectives and Officers for their determination to identify and locate this suspect.”
Wrapping up his post, Lowry said, “We are also grateful for the assistance and support from the Walton County Sheriff’s Office and Snellville Police Department in quickly resolving this case. Hate has no place in our community.”

Reacting to a viral clip of her arrest, conservatives took to social media to celebrate. “Liberal terrorist, Megan Buchegar, has been arrested for VANDALIZING a Charlie Kirk memorial at a local tire shop.. LOVE to see this.. 👏👏” one comment read.
Responding to the last post, one woman wrote, “Enough with the violence and destruction. People like Megan Buchegar are vile, and should just leave the United States because we don’t want their violence and hate in our country.”
Unfortunately, as we have reported in the American Tribune, many touching memorials to Charlike Kirk have been vandalized. For example, Derek Lopez, a 27-year-old graduate student at Illinois State University and teaching assistant, was arrested for disorderly conduct and criminal damage in one such incident.
While flipping a TPUSA table, the vile activist said, “Well, you know, Jesus did it, so you know I gotta do it, right? “Derek Lopez screeched before flipping the table. Before leaving the scene, he sarcastically added, “Thanks, guys, have a great day.”
Responding to this shameful display, Police Chief Aaron Woodruff reiterated strong support for the First Amendment as well as public safety. “We are committed to protecting the First Amendment rights as well as the safety of everyone in our campus community,” the officer noted.
Additionally, Woodruff declared, “We encourage all members of our community to learn more about free speech rights and responsibilities at Illinois State University, including constructive ways to respond when encountering speech they may disagree with.”
