In an appearance on the Thursday, February 20 broadcast of Fox News Channel’s “Hannity” with host Sean Hannity that was so absurd it was funny, longtime Democrat strategist and media personality James Carville claimed that he thinks the “collapse” of President Donald Trump and his administration is already underway.
As background, Carville is mainly known for thinking wokeness is a stupid platform for the Democrats to latch onto and, other than that, being wrong about nearly everything. For example, he claimed in November of 2024 that Kamala would surely win the presidential election because of the celebrities who supported her.
He said, in that 100% incorrect incident, “She has an infinitely far superior surrogate operation.” Elaborating, Carville said. “She has both Obamas, both Clintons, Beyoncé, LeBron.” Contrasting that with the few celebrities who endorsed Trump, Carville added, “He’s got what, Scott Baio? Hulk Hogan?” He said that because of that disparity, Kamala would win, which proved entirely incorrect.
In any case, commenting on Trump supposedly “collapsing” in the polls, Carville claimed that Democrats actually did ok in the election and that Kamala dragged them down, a far cry from his prior comments on her being a shoo-in. He said, “[L]et me back up. We went with our seven-string quarterback, and we lost by a point and a half, and we actually picked up a congressional seat.”
Continuing, he admitted that he was wrong about the election outcome but immediately tried claiming he wasn’t that wrong, despite the massive electoral college victory for Trump, saying, “So, if you’re asking me, did I think that she was going to win and she didn’t win? Yes, all the polling showed it even it turned out to be a point and a half race.”
He then said that because the GOP lost one House seat, all the Democrats need to do is “play possum” and wait for the supposed collapse of President Trump to occur. He said, “But — and you lost seats, but if you have — and I’m telling the Democrats just sit there, play possum, let them go, let them go, let them go.”
Carville then claimed that Trump’s poll numbers are declining to such an extent that his “collapse” has started, a ridiculous statement given that Trump still has an over 50% approval rating in a very polarized political environment. He said, “Poll numbers are declining. The collapse is already underway.”

Still not done, Carville claimed that DOGE’s attempts to root out fraud in entitlements and cut income taxes will somehow prove unpopular and further sink Trump’s popularity with the average American, saying, ridiculously, “Let’s see when they put the Medicaid budget, where they put the tax, the $4.5 trillion of tax cuts to wealthy people.”
Concluding, he claimed that Democrats “don’t need to be aggressive” and can “just sit back” to watch Trump’s supposed “collapse” in the polls to win the next election. He said, absurdly, “Just let the ball come to you. We don’t need to be aggressive now. We can just sit back.” Watch Carville here:
