WATCH: Nancy Pelosi Implodes after MSNBC Interviewer Fact-Checks Her Trump Economy Claims

MSNBC and its hosts might be the farthest left on mainstream cable news, but that didn’t stop Representative and former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi from accusing MSNBC host Katy Tur of being an “apologist for Trump.” That came during a heated moment on a Monday, April 29 interview on Tur’s “Kat Tur Reports.”

The attack on Tur came after Pelosi, during the interview, attacked Trump as being a threat to “our democracy,” a favorite term of the left, and accused him of assaulting the “pillars” of “our democracy.” She said, “Donald Trump is a great threat to our democracy. What is a democracy, what are the pillars? What are the pillars?”

Continuing, she described what she thinks the pillars of “our democracy” are, lionizing the press and judiciary. She said, “A free and independent press to tell the story. To keep everybody informed of what people are saying and doing. That transparency is essential. Independent judiciary. An independent judiciary when they’re practically threatening on TV exposure of jurors in the trial of the president, or any trial, and any of that. What is an independent judiciary about? It’s about free and fair elections. And what do they do, but suppress the vote?”

Rep. Pelosi then alleged that former President  Trump has never done anything to indicate that he “cares” about or values, “a democracy.” She told Tur, “So, there’s nothing in his ‘performance,’ if that’s the word we’ll use, what he has done, that would indicate he cares, prioritizes, or ever valued, or ever did anything to support a democracy.”

Still not done with the blistering rant, Rep. Pelosi went on to claim that Trump’s immunity argument is dangerous, saying, “And now on the ballot saying he should have immunity from whatever he might do, I mean, really, I have sympathy and respect for everybody who votes. I’m just glad people vote. I know some of them will never, will always reject those of us who might look different to them in leadership and the rest, and that’s that.”

She next argued that Biden is responsibly addressing common sense concerns, saying, “But there are those who have real legitimate concerns about immigration, globalization, innovation, and what does that mean to their job and their family’s future? And we have to address those concerns. And Joe Biden is doing that. Created nine million jobs in his term in office. Donald Trump has the worst record of job loss of a president. So, we just have to make sure people know.”

Apparently, the job loss claim, which stems from the massive lockdowns during Covid and resulting job losses, which mainly happened in blue states under left-leaning governors, was too much even for MSNBC’s Tur. She shot back, “That was a global pandemic,” meaning that the job losses were because of Covid and the policies effected in response to it, not Trump.

Pelosi then doubled down on her claim and accused Tur of being an “apologist” for Trump, snapping, “He had the worst record of any president,” Pelosi reiterated. “We’ve had other concerns in our country. If you want to be an apologist for Donald Trump, that may be your role, but it ain’t mine.” Tur, shocked, retorted, “I don’t think anybody can accuse me of that.”
