WATCH: North Carolina Mayor Sounds Off on FEMA, Exposes What It Did to His Daughter

In the aftermath of the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene, one North Carolina mayor exposed the insufficient aid he received from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).  According to the account from Derek Roberts, the Mayor of Newland, a small town of just over 700 residents, his daughter barely received any aid after losing her house.  This contradicts the reports of the Biden-Harris administration, which has tried to ensure that all impacted by the natural disaster have been adequately assisted.

Speaking with Fox News, Roberts told Sean Hannity that his daughter’s house had been entirely “wiped out,” and she only received $300 instead of the $750 that Kamala Harris claimed people would receive. Roberts outlined how the sum would do little to ease the impact of the hurricane when some have lost everything and are without flood insurance.

“My daughter, whose house got completely wiped out – she has no flood insurance – meets with a FEMA person, applies for everything, doesn’t get the $750 that Kamala says she’s supposed to get. Gets approved for $300 for personal items. What is that gonna do?” Roberts said.  “Her entire first floor is literally wiped out,” the mayor added. “Everything hauled everything off. So where is FEMA?”

Roberts pointed out that the $300 dollars she was given would not even buy her groceries given the inflation under the Biden-Harris administration.  Noting that the relief wouldn’t replace “what was in her refrigerator” Roberts questioned how it would do anything to ease the burden his daughter is faced with after her entire home was ravaged.

According to recent reports, the controversial U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas stated that FEMA does not have enough funding to endure this year’s storm season.  Subsequently, conservatives have raised concerns that the federal government’s resources have been strained by the rampant illegal immigration under the Biden-Harris administration.

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) recently wrote a letter to Mayorkas about the secretary’s admission that FEMA was low on funding.  According to the Florida Republican, FEMA has egregiously mismanaged taxpayer funds that should be allocated to American citizens, such as those impacted by Hurricane Helene.

“My office has been in contact with whistleblowers in numerous emergency-management functions at the federal, state, and local levels, and they all point to the same critical mismanagement issues.  FEMA has wasted taxpayer funds, misappropriated funds, and left other federal, state, and local responders without deployment orders on the ground,” Gaetz said.

He continued, “As reported and further confirmed by my office, hundreds, if not thousands of service members were deployed by the Department of Defense to North Carolina and have sat idle, waiting for FEMA. We have confirmed FEMA employees deployed, on the clock, awaiting orders in hotels. FEMA pre-disaster aid was withheld, exacerbating the emergency. It is also public that NGOs have purchased airline tickets for migrants through the use of FEMA funds.”
