WATCH: NFL Hall of Fame Linebacker Says He Was “Always a Democrat” Until He Met Trump

Speaking during former President Donald Trump’s massive rally in Wildwood, New Jersey, on Saturday, May 11, former NFL linebacker Lawrence Taylor, a Hall of Famer, spoke to the crowd about how the former president had turned him from a Democrat into a MAGA man. He said that he was always a Democrat and that his political affiliation only changed when he met former President Trump.

Trump’s rally in Wildwood, as background, was a massive one. Up to a hundred thousand people attended and wildly cheered the former president as he ran through his usual list of subjects in a spellbinding speech that went on for about one and a half hours. That massive crowd came out despite New Jersey being a longtime Democrat stronghold

During the rally, one of the notables introduced was Lawrence Taylor, a former NFL linebacker who played for the New York Giants for 13 seasons and is widely regarded as one of the NFL’s all-time greatest defensive players.

Appearing on the Wildwood, New Jersey, stage alongside former President Donald Trump, Taylor said, much to the excitement of the tens of thousands of attendees, that not only did Trump turn him away from his lifetime of voting Democrat and toward voting Republican, but that Trump needn’t worry about anyone in his family ever deciding to vote for a Democrat again.

He began, explaining that Trump changed him, “I just wanted to say, I grew up a Democrat, and I’ve always been a Democrat — until I met this man right here.” Continuing, he made the pledge about no family member of his voting for the Democrats again, saying, “I’ll tell you what: He will not have to worry about nobody in my family ever vote for a Democrat again, OK?”

Joining Taylor, another NFL star who played for the New York Giants, Super Bowl MVP O.J. Anderson, spoke about the crowd’s consistent excitement for former President Trump, saying, “Don’t you just love that guy? I tell you, it has been a very exciting day. You guys, not one person left here. You’re still here, yelling and screaming.”

Trump, for his part, introduced the two ball players as his golfing buddies. Beginning his introduction, he said, “We’re joined tonight and today by two incredible football legends, New York Giants Super Bowl heroes. I guess I would have to say Lawrence Taylor is the greatest defensive player ever. I’m a little prejudiced, but I would say that.”

Continuing, he said, “And a man who was possessed during Super Bowl. He was a Super Bowl MVP. Otis O.J. Anderson, come on up, fellas, for a second. Come on up.” He added, “These guys. Look at him. Lawrence, you look like you could play immediately. They could use you. Come on up. These guys are serious players. You know they’re my golfing partners too. Tell them. Can Trump play golf? You have to tell them.”
