WATCH: New Report Reveals Ilhan Omar’s Connection to Minnesota’s Somali Migrant Fraud Scandal

Damning photos of Abdul Dahir Ibrahim, a Somali illegal immigrant with a 2004 deportation order and Canadian asylum/welfare fraud convictions, posing with Gov. Tim Walz, Rep. Ilhan Omar, and Sen. Omar Fateh, went viral after his December 2025 ICE arrest.

Reacting, DHS mocked: “Bye-bye, Abdul,” while highlighting his ties to “Minnesota’s top sanctuary politicians.” Libs of TikTok and Fox News amplified the images, linking them to Minnesota’s $1B+ Somali-led welfare fraud scandal.

Likewise, Stephen Miller called it “the single greatest theft of taxpayer dollars in American history,” accusing state Democratic officials of full complicity and warning that the actual cost and depth remain hidden.

Taking the news to social media, prominent conservative Libs of TikTok explained, “BREAKING: Photos show Abdul Dahir Ibrahim, a Somali ILLEGAL ALIEN convicted in the Minnesota fraud scheme, posing alongside Ilhan Omar and Tim Walz,” adding, “Ibrahim had orders for removal in 2004 AND had prior convictions in Canada for asylum and welfare fraud.”

Included in her post was an expose from Fox News. “All right, this news just breaking moments ago, Fox News has obtained photos of one of the Somali illegal immigrants wrapped up in the Minnesota fraud scandal, posing with several high profile Minnesota Democrats, including Congresswoman Ilan Omar and Governor Tim Walz,” the anchor noted.

Providing additional context, the reporter said, “The man pictured is Abdul Dahir Ibrahim. He entered the country in 2000 and has had an order for removal since 2004 he also has a prior conviction in Canada for asylum and welfare fraud. Ice tells Fox News, Ibrahim was granted temporary protected status for 10 years, but should have never been eligible.”

Reacting to the same news, the Department of Homeland Security’s official social media account issued a hilarious statement. “Criminal illegal alien, Abdul Dahir Ibrahim has been linked to Minnesota’s top sanctuary politicians. In these pictures, Ibrahim can be seen with  @GovTimWalz , @Ilhan, and @OmarFatehMn,” the agency said.

Wrapping up the message, the DHS declared, “Ibrahim was convicted in Canada for Asylum and Welfare Fraud prior to his entry into the United States. On April 3, 2004, an immigration judge ordered Ibrahim removed, citing the significant amount of fraud associated with him. Bye-bye, Abdul.”

This revelation aligns with recent comments from the Trump administration. Writing about the central welfare fraud ring within the Minnesota Somali community, White House Officials wrote, “Somali refugees in Minnesota have committed the ‘biggest theft of taxpayer dollars in US history,’ and local Democratic officials were ‘fully complicit’ in the scheme.”

Additionally, US Homeland Security Advisor Stephen Miller blasted the state government for complicity. “We believe the state government is fully complicit in this scheme, and we believe that what we uncover is going to shock the American people,” he said.

Contextualizing his comments, Miller declared, “The Somali fraud operation in Minnesota is the single greatest theft of taxpayer dollars through welfare fraud in American history. We believe that we’ve only scratched the very top of the surface of how deep this goes.”

Bringing his comments to a close, Miller added, “The total tab for this is going to be far beyond the numbers we’ve already seen reported… That’s likely a significant undercount of just how much of a financial burden the Somali refugee population is imposing on this country.”
